It would make sense that the buffoons on the All-Australian selection committee would choose Stephen Milne in 2012, Chad Wingard in 2013 and then in 2014, they'd overlook the Hawthorn forward pocket who kicked more goals than those two and actually has a defensive side to his game as well.
Wingard kicked more goals and average over 20 touches. Well deserved over Breust in 2013

Schulz is beating Hawkins in nearly every single stat:

Kicks, Handballs, Disposals, Goals, Marks, Tackles, Goals, less behinds, Same amount of inside 50s, better DE%, Less clangers, Contested Marks, Clearances, Stoppages, 1%ers, Goal Accuracy %, hell even fantasy points...

But yet nearly everyone has Hawkins in their AA teams and barely anyone has Schulz :drunk::oops:

Can you do a side by side of the teams that both players have kicked their goals against?

Also, while I'm a big fan of Schulz he is in the same boat as Josh Kennedy this year.

Kicking big bags against GWS is great, but when you're competing with other guys around the 60-70 goal mark 9 goals against Footscray doesn't look as good as 5 against Hawthorn and 4 against Collingwood, for example.

Schulz best chance of selection is to win the Coleman. If he can kick 75 or 80 then no one will give a **** if he got 20 of them against St Kilda.

Pretty much, 33 of his 43 goals have come against bottom 10 sides..if the AA selectors don't factor that in then he's probably a lock.

Hawkins has kicked 25 goals in 7 games against top eight sides. Schulz has kicked 10 goals in 5 games against top eight sides. It's as simple as that (and why would you compare stats like clearances for full forwards).

On a Collingwood note I think Beams and Pendlebury are locks if it was picked now, personally think Beams has been slightly better but they should both be there. I think Elliot has had a more consistent year than Wingard also so if there was a spot for one of them I think he should make it however Bruest, Parker and Gray have all been better so both of them will probably miss. Don't be surprised if Cloke is a lock come seasons end either.

Jack didn't make it in 2012 when he won the Coleman

That's idiotic. Should be a guarantee really.

Schulz is having a great consistent year. Definitely belongs in the forward line.

B: Hibberd Talia Smith
HB: Johnson Hooker Birchall
C: Pendlebury Ablett Beams
HF: Fyfe Hawkins Gray
F: Breust Schulz Franklin
R: Sandi Kennedy Macrae
Int: Jones Boak Prestia Jacobs

I agree, but it's not certain that he'll get in.

Hibberd Carlile N.Smith
B.Smith Hooker Malceski
Beams Pendlebury Rockliff
Parker Franklin Fyfe
Breust Hawkins Gray
Sandilands Ablett Kennedy

Jones, Selwood, Harvey, Boak

Nice to see Macrae in there. I don't think he'll make it, but it's nice to see some recognition for the unbelievable season he's having.

He's damn close really. I think he'll make the squad if not the actual AA.

Macrae is behind Libba and maybe even Boyd from his own team, let alone a heap other mids like Ward, Treloar, Rockliff, B.Harvey, Dal Santo, Jack, Sloane, Heppell, Swallow, Ebert, Gibbs. Having a really good season, burt he's not in the team let alone starting as the rover.

He's behind Libba, but he's definitely had a better year than Boyd.

I probably wouldn't have in the squad either, fwiw. Had a great year though.

If we're looking at goals against top 8 sides

Hawkins - 3.6 gpg
Breust - 3.0 gpg
Franklin - 2.9 gpg
Elliott - 2.6 gpg
Roughead - 2.4 gpg
Gunston - 2.3 gpg
N. Riewoldt - 2.0 gpg
Schulz - 2.0 gpg
J. Riewoldt - 1.9 gpg
Kennedy - 1.8 gpg

Hawkins smashes the competition.

Just quietly, Schulz averages 8.4 disposals and 3.4 marks per game against top 8 teams. He's been completely useless in each of those games except against Sydney. No way is he All-Australian at this stage.

Forget Pavlich? He is averaging 2.15 goals, 16 possessions, 5.6 marks and 3 inside 50s per game against top 8 sides. Probably the third best tall forward behind Hawkins and Franklin this year.

Sandi & fyfe - yes.

Ballantyne - no. There are numerous better small forwards like Elliott, Gray, wingard, bruest, etc

Care to reassess on Ballantyne? 11 goals in two weeks for a small forward, including BOG against Richmond last week.

I just did the top 10 goal kickers.

By the way, Gunston is averaging 2.3 goals, 17.3 disposals, 8 marks and 2.7 I50s against top 8 sides. Roughead 2.4 goals, 16.8 disposals, 3.2 marks, 2.8 I50s.

They are in good form as well. But Pav has a bigger nose so as the old saying goes, he wins.
