Even though we are having a completely shit year, i cant believe how little Dustin Martin is being mentioned. He has put together a great year so far and he is only getting better as the year goes on.

Competing with the likes of Harvey, Gray, Parker and Beams for a spot on the HFF. Overall performance compounded by second half fade outs put him behind this bunch.

You clearly havent been watching us at all (cant blame you)

He hasnt been 'fading out' at all this season

Past 8 games he is going at 34 disposals and over a goal a game

Sorry let me correct that then; he has either faded out or started slowly, either way that's going missing when he is needed. The most notable being against North where he only had 6 disposals in the second half, 4 of them being clangers.

There have been a maximum of 13 games played this season, we're not discounting 5 of them to improve a players average.

27 touches and 1.5 goals a game then

And? Beams, Gray, Harvey and Parker all have comparable if not better numbers. Which one of them does he displace?

Parker is the most likely, but while his numbers are virtually identical except Parker gets more contested ball, more clearances and tackles a lot more.

Parker: 24 touches, 1 goal, 6 tackles, 4 inside 50's, 1 rebound 50's, 68% effective disposal

Gray: 24 touches, 1.5 goals, 3 tackles, 3 inside 50's, 1 rebound 50's, 70% effective disposal

Harvey: 26 touches, 1.3 goals, 4 tackles, 4 inside 50's, 1 rebound 50's, 78% effective disposal

Martin: 27 touches, 1.5 goals, 3 tackles, 3 inside 50's, 2 rebound 50's, 70% effective disposal

From that id say he stacks up pretty well actually, i can go deeper into the stats if youd like?

End of the day he deserves to be in the conversation, regardless of what your bias says

At the end of the day Parker, Gray and Harvey have won games for their respective clubs while Martin is just a stat hunter

Dusty is also an excellent line breaker and one of the best kicks in the league. I probably wouldn't put him in the AA side ahead of Gray and Harvey but I think he's been better than Parker with much, much worse support.

What bias? I don't support any of those teams. I never said he didn't belong in the discussion, I said others were ahead of him, which they are.

He's the only one who is there most of the time. I respect him more for standing up and playing with heart in such an otherwise uninspiring and gutless team.
North Melbourne comes to mind but most of those Richmond players look like stat hunters but am probably wrong about Martin

I am serious. Averaging 24 touches (15 contested), 1.5 contested marks (8th in AFL), 6 clearances and 1 goal/game. His possession count is down but he's kicking goals which gives him an edge.

Take your Port glasses off. Fyfe was an oversight

Danger isn't even close to AA. These are the mids id have ahead of him in any order

Ablett, Pendlebury, Rockliff, Libba, Jones, Boak, Selwood, Prestia, Ward, Beams, Fyfe, Kennedy, Sloane, Priddis and maybe even Goddard, D.Martin, Gibbs, Treloar

Calling dusty a stat hunter is one of the worst calls I've seen on bigfooty.

Dangerfield in everyones squad base on reputation only. Has really not earned a spot this season ahead of a lot of the guys he is getting in ahead of. Fyfe every day of the week and twice on sundays.
I don't think Fyfe has been as consistent as last year, and has missed a couple of games as well. I wouldn't bat an eyelid if either were picked over the other.

Had 2 quit games, but did very well otherwise (very high in the AFLCA, even with 4 off games). Those two games will, hardly be taken into account. Likely only when it gets to 4+ games. Still think he is no lock with the competion for midspots but our most likely mid to make, also considering he was close a few time before...

@games missed as well: Looks it bit like Mumford really want to challange Sandilands for the ruck spot. Could see him get in on form (and perhaps being a GWS player) even with the games he missed...

Nathan Fyfe is a certainty, just as Josh Gibson would've been a certainty if he hadn't got injured in Round 8. Not only because they continued on with their dominant form of 2013. Also because the AA selectors probably realised what freakin' idiots they were last year when they left both players out and both went on to win their club's best and fairest.

The 2 best players of the 2 best teams in 2013… both left out of the AA team. What a balls-up!!

The selectors will be keen to atone. Fyfe will be one of the first players selected.
