Enjoyed the opener between Shelton and Fletcher. Also liking those Julia Hart video packages.

lol at Bowens and Daddy Ass, they've had enough of Casters crap. That "Best Wrestler Alive" tag when he clearly isn't gets a reaction.

Great to see that Bandido is on the way back.

"Just enjoy wrestling" has become tribalism in itself at this point though, it's used whenever a company gets criticised and the people and fans involved don't like it, it used to be valid, now people have overused it that it's lost the original meaning.
No people use it to mean "your opinion is garbage but the constant bickering is exhausting".

That's true, I think tribalism is something that's impossible to avoid anywhere though.

Well, it actually isn't impossible to avoid.

I'd also like to avoid it in this thread, so if you could stop bringing that BS here, that'd be much appreciated.

Great to see that Bandido is on the way back.

I would prefer they had a bit more surprise to their shows, and not pre-empt her arrival back with vignettes. How hard does the crowd pop when it goes pitch black for the HoB?? Never fails. She was well and truly over just before she got injured, so I would prefer to see her come back and appear, and then start with the videos.

Announcing Bandido I don't have an issue with, cos he probably doesn't have the same popularity... but wrestling fans generally like surprises, IMO.

Amazing show this week. Loving the Continental Classic.

I think the best thing with it is there's so many participants that are receiving pushes atm, you can't really assume which one will win a particular match, let alone the entire thing

No doubt Okada gets through to the semis, but which of Garcia, Fletcher or Benjamin will join him? Darby, Claudio, Ospreay and Ricochet on the other side... Ospreay and who??

And those I haven't mentioned, are obviously going to put on a hell of a match. It is a must-watch tourney.

It can be used for that, the definition and use of it has definitely stretched out over time though, to be fair Dustin Rhodes has always seemed a little sensitive on Twitter, long before AEW was even a thing.

I don't believe I'm being tribalistic, but you're entitled to your opinion.

There's a separate thread for this stuff, in which the topic is essentially discussing tribalism.

Haven't done anything outwardly wrong, but there's no need to circle over the same discussion that's been done to death in company threads previously.

Please continue it there.

hard to resist not doing Fletcher vs Ospreay again (semi finals) with heightened stakes.

Get off twitter, it helps massively
Thats just ignoring reality. The ratings are proof something is wrong here. Good to see them try and put some work into storylines but the storylines are just not very good ones. Too much desire to create a bajillion stables, too many on the roster and also too many new signings coming in over and over again to establish a true star of the company. These are still problems they are ignoring

MJF turning face was a insane ball drop. He needs to go back to being the guy the company 100% built around, even if he is away shooting movies. Adam Cole needs to be the 2nd face of the company. They should be building every show around these 2.

Having 80 wrestlers appearing each month (made up number but feels that) doesnt create the continuity to watch each week. They are making steps in the right direction here atleast, they just need to make a few more

I wouldn't say the show should be built around Cole and MJF, I think wrestling companies are best served following the Attitude Era formula, your World Champion should always be the centrepiece and focus of your show, and their storyline should be the start and finish of the show, much like it was with Austin back in the day, he'd be on screen at least 6 times throughout the night, as they'd follow the story throughout the show, Moxley as much as I don't like him should be appearing more than once or twice per show.

What do ratings have to do with anything?

Are the best films of the year those that appeal to lowest common denominator? Are the best restaurants McDonalds and KFC?

With WWE in Netflix and AEW on Max, ratings are meaningless. The IWC are going to have to find something else to fight over.

And I deleted twitter and haven't missed it once.

Everything. Its why the AEW Brisbane show is shunted into a much smaller arena for example which then prevents them coming next time around in all reality. It also shows that they have areas to improve in also. You cant lose half your audience and be beyond improvement

What I said is still fundamentally true. They have fumbled MJF big time. He should be the biggest star in wrestling right now, well surpassing people like Roman Reigns/Cody Rhodes but he isnt. I also think Adam Cole is legit too but he has gone backwards. Time to give him his ball back and let him cook

Moxley isnt that type of wrestler. Not to say he isnt good but he isnt a guy with the promo skills or ingenuity to carry that many promos. Only MJF has that very very rare talent in AEW and not only does he have it, he is the best in the world at it. Gotta get to using it

You got the star quarterback throwing 12 passes a game while you run the ball 30 times. Change that up and let your star quarterback show his abilities

It hasn't been shunted - it's in the perfect sized venue. It's going to absolutely go off.

I don't expect AEW to be in Australia every year - this is an absolute special event. We've gone years in between WWE visits. I'm going to the event assuming I may not get another chance.

They can improve, absolutely. But it's also a really fantastic product that's exactly what I want. I don't care if it's less successful in the suburbs of Alabama now than in the past. I want it to be good, not lowest common denominator.

Twitter isn't reality. It's pretty much turned into 85% bots and engagement farmers.
At the same time, the quality of the show has decreased dramatically in the past two years, I don't know how you can lose half of your audience in two years and not be worried.

If it was the perfect venue it would have started off there in the first place. I’d say this is the last time AEW is in Australia. They are pretty classy to keep the event on to be fair. A fair few would have bailed given the low ticket sales when compared to travel and all that

Not sure what you mean by lowest common denominator given the definition differs alot. I actually view that it is appealing to the lowest common denominator. I’d like to see AEW work on the stars it has as opposed to signing Bobby Lashley cos he is a shiny new toy. I tend to think piling in WWE guys as the lowest common denominator, especially when stars are already there, just not being used.

I’d watch AEW more if they were focused on building new stars because they have shown they can do it. It’s when they went away from that that the ratings dropped.

Maybe adding Collision in that time period oversaturates the product.
