The more I’ve thought about it, the more I’m convinced that the “news” of the last week has been dropped ahead of a huge heel turn.

But his AEW debut is all over social media this weekend being a year ago - I watch that, and I’m not sure people are ready to boo him yet.

I’m a bit torn.

On one hand there’s be nothing organic about a Punk heel turn - but on the other hand, he’s so entertaining as a bad guy I’m not even sure it matters.

I’m pretty sure he signed a 2 year deal, yeah? Maybe it was his plan all along to be a good guy for a year and a bad guy for the 2nd year.

I’ve convinced myself that MJF is coming back this week…

• Punk returns to the heroes welcome
• immediately sets his sights on Darby, who he would later call the “heart & soul of AEW.”
• gives the JR interview where he kind of baulks at the championship question
• beats Allin, beats Hobbs, beats Garcia, beats Moriarty
• the MJF feud starts - with MJF offering Punk his hand before Punk smirks and walks off
• Punk beats Wardlow, beats Spears, beats FTR
• we get the incredible story about how MJF looked up to Punk, and Punk let him down. “I needed you! You let us all down!”
• we get that promo from Punk - “I splash water on my face and wonder if I was the bad guy all along… Am I Frankenstein’s monster?”
• the next week he answers his own question: “I sure am trying” (to be a good guy)… so no - he’s not a good guy
• not only did Punk let down young MJF - but Punk took everything from an adult MJF. His friends, his bodyguard, his undefeated streak, his number 1 ranking. And he did it with a dog collar, citing the all time great bad guy Roddy Piper and using nefarious means to do so
• then Punk set his sights on the title, which went via the very popular Dark Order, beating Johnny Hungy
• Page tells us he’s not just defending the title from Punk, he’s defending AEW
• Page is the one who gets a slight heel reaction in the title match as he taunts Punk with the belt
• Punk wins and disappears

He wasn’t helping Allin or Garcia or MJF or Page. Punk never cared about the future of AEW, he cared about himself, and he masterfully exploited everyone’s weaknesses - Allium’s recklessness, Page’s honour, MJF’s insecurity - for his own benefit to get to the belt.

Just as he suspected - CM Punk was the bad guy all along.

And it allows them to do whatever they want with MJF. They don’t even have to turn him face.

But MJF along with Punk are the catalyst for this turn. “I was the good guy Punk. I offered you my hand. I told you how I looked up for you. And you took everything from me. You cheated to beat me. I was another notch on your belt as you tried to run through the young pillars of AEW to make it all about you Punk.”

Punk was a heel from his 2nd night back. He just sucked us all in on night 1 so none of us saw it.

Yea I think that is where it will get to. Main reason I think he will return this week is they want it to be a surprise but you also want the most amount of people as possible to see it. Can't do much more to get a big audience than a Moxley v Punk title match. Then MJF can cause either a dq or Punk to win. Or who knows what else. But I think he will appear to effect this match.

Daniel Garcia vs Westin Blake (Formerly from the Forgotten Sons faction in WWE)
NWA and Impact Wrestler VSK also joined the Trust Busters, for some reason he's a butler. This faction gets weirder and weirder.
Smart Mark Sterling also said he's going to sue the Blackpool Combat Club because Mox attacked Tony Nese and Josh Woods, robbing them of a Dynamite match and pay day, he'll get every penny from Claudio's Swiss bank account, and every penny from Bryan Danielson's wifes bank account too.
Also Bear Country are now heels and are called the Iron Savages and have a new manager called JT Davidson.

I loved No Mercy as a kid so I’m pretty keen for this.

I’m guessing the entrances are cut short for the demo but it would be shithouse if they were this short.

I’m guessing the entrances is cut short for the demo but it would be shithouse if they were this short.

I loved it apart from the fact that the cart would always erase its own save data, remember having to swap it over 3 times before just getting a refund.

I thought so to but after watching this at the 22:50 mark they talk about it.

Uno: “I believe what we have shown is what the entrances will be. They’re a quicker format so it’s a summarized version”

THQ Guy: “We will have the full entrances”

Uno seemed all over the place with the answer.

They also said you can trigger your own pyro.

The nostalgia of it might be good for a bit but with current graphics in games it will probably be a bit flat much like Battlegrounds was no good.

I’ll still purchase it for sure though.
