Making claims that we have problems with indigenous players and the community programs are a waste of government money. Unbelievable.

They think they're pure as the driven snow because they cheer Eddie and that mouthbreather of ours threw a banana at the Showdown, but snide comments about our indigenous players and programs have always been a heartbeat away with them.

Draw your own conclusions.

Nah, they're too busy losing their shit over a mildly offensive and very general throwaway line in a Jon Ralph article.

Serious shit like this (and the Ryder incident) where players' reputations and mental health are actually at stake goes into the too hard basket.

Mental health has always been the last priority within AFL..

They have gay pride dedicated rounds before promoting mental health awareness..

Players own pubs and we are calling for a booze ban.

Education and application of a bit of common sense. If i'm a 27 year old player and never got into any trouble and I like a drink, I'd be bloody pissed off if I was banned because some young player couldn't handle his grog.

Guess what people, making mistakes is a natural part of life. I hate these blanket bans that are applied because someone made an error or did something stupid.

I left an example of two players that did it for themselves. Obviously a total ban isn't always effective and can leave players feeling unfairly punished, but if you get on the turps and do ****ing stupid shit then perhaps you should ban yourself.

Why did she make them her first port of call?
How do you know she did? Sounds like she made the club her first call, which was a good idea. Having known people who’ve been assaulted in this way, making it a police matter can be harder on you than the accused perpetrator.

I think IF it's true, he should get what's coming. I have a 22 y/o daughter so might look at it differently than some, but, again IF he's crossed the boundaries, he should cop what he deserves. Believe you/me, i love Port as much as anyone here, but there's lines not to be crossed.

I dont think this is scot free. He will have to front a coach, a CEO, a football manager, a player welfare development manager, more importantly his girlfriend in Perth, if things haven't changed on that front in the last couple of months, and its now out in the public. The AFL will probably give him a nice big public fine of around $5k - a match paymet. It's hardly scot free.
Most importantly his GF , are you kidding ? , at 20 yoa he with probably have another 10 of them before he marries !

You’re allowed to make the odd mistake but you have to face the consequences of your mistakes too. Nobody’s calling for him to be delisted or anything silly like that but a week off and some sort of mandatory counselling seems a proportionate response. Letting him get away with bad behaviour completely scot-free only reinforces that behaviour.
Following on from his ‘mates’ behaviour in the JLT, you can see why the club tried to head off something like this occurring by having him stay with Boak. Fine, a public apology, counciling and at least a couple of weeks off. 1 is Collingwood / Hawthorn token punishment stuff. Broad copped more then 1 week for posting a topless pic, which is, IMO, less then actually putting hands on someone.

It’s not a hanging offence, but it is a real test of if the club (and supporters) will support a tough punishment, now it’s (bloody unfortunately) one of ours whose gone off the rails. For both SPP and any future potential incidents by our players, I’d rather 2-4 weeks now, then something more serious down the track.

What about if the victim instead of going to the police went and sold their "story" to the highest bidder, or this case only bidder.

Here's a thought, what if the club said go and tell one media outlet, we are passing this onto the AFL so when he gets fined it will come out, but you going public, not going to the cops might be a good bit of embarrassment for the bloke and he might learn something as might his teammates. She did say one of the guys said - don't you know who we are??

How the **** would you know?

As someone pointed out in the thread earlier, what do you think the cops are gonna do about someone allegedly grabbing someone's arse in a nightclub?

Press chargers idiot? and perhaps get the ball rolling with support through CASA .. there's CCTV footage everywhere.. instead though she would rather sit down with the lovely people from channel 7 take the money and get on the turps again next week. This is a serious accusation and should be followed up by the Police. No reason she can't go to the media afterwards.

SPP is an absolute idiot for staying out that late pissed.. the rest is all alleged.

Please don’t lie Sam, that will only end up worse for you.

Agree he’s gotta put his hand up. Wait.

Seriously though people shouldn’t have their personal space invaded without invitation so if this is true he needs to sack up, apologise to her and then cop a whack for his misdeed.

The media should tread carefully when accusing someone of "sexual assault".
The definition is varied but usually it comes down to: "Sexual assault occurs when a person is forced, coerced or tricked into sexual acts against their will or without their consent."
SPP should have the book thrown at him if he did commit sexual assault but from the 'victims' statements it sounds more like "sexual harassment".
