You've got nothing to lose mate so I wouldn't be too fussed about people remembering.

FWIW I've been fed info from somebody very close to Gaff that Melbourne aren't even in the equation but I figure in a few weeks time we'll all know who our friends are.
He was a Melbourne supporter thats where those rumours are coming from/ being based off of... and he wanted to be drafted by Richmond in his draft year

Where have you been?

You mean he wanted to go to the melb club that picked first in that draft? Which happened to be Richmond.

In that draft year he was never falling out of top 4. That top 4 was set months and months in advance.

Tiger71 says he has heard Gaff will turn his back on the North offer for Hawthorn's.
What sort of p/a contract do you think your mob will offer.

I cant imagine you would be happy even offering 1mill let alone more. WC will match that and you would have to trade

Unlikely they offer a contract that wc wont match
What players are West Coast willing to put off their books to compete with Hawthorn's freed-up salary space after losing Vickery, Rioli, and the recent rejigging of Jack Gunston's contract? Scott Lycett? Is that it? There's a big reason why West Coast are still entertaining the idea of Lycett leaving despite Nic Nat being perennially injured and Vardy only being serviceable, and it's got everything to do with freeing up cap space - he's on about the same coin as Vickery was, which is enough to be considered a Restricted Free Agent - so don't think for a second that West Coast are likely to be able to match an offer from the Hawks without sacrificing a few quality players first, especially after re-signing McGovern.

Didnt mean that to be aggressive if thats how you took it.

I was actually generally curious on your thoughts. Your mob seem to be able to get people easier than mine, i just see this as a tricky scenario for the hawks given what i said earlier. Gaff is only going to be "free" to someone if they pay a big price. If you are happy to trade then you might be in a good position to get him.

All i was trying to suggest is that i would be shocked if the hawks offered a p/a contract for gaff that WC wouldnt entertain matching (on the assumption that gaff chose hawks as his pref destination)

Not saying they dont have the money to do it. Just saying that its unlikely they would have a similar "strategy" to what ours is. And that would likely be a sizeably smaller p/a contract and it would be more likely (not certain) that WC would match and force a trade

Hawks. Five years.

Lol, i would pay for this to happen. This will completely obliterate hawthorn's salary structure and will dent their existing system. A excellent player to kill off one's pay structure.............hmmmmmmmmmm. I fully support this to happen.

My point is that I don't think West Coast have the money to do it. I don't think West Coast have much room to even entertain matching a competitive bid by any club, honestly (unless Gaff is offered the same or only marginally more than he's being paid now, they simply won't be able to match many bids). As I said, the evidence of their tight cap space is in the way they're handling Scott Lycett (who's on a decent amount of coin) despite their list currently having only three players who're 200cm+ and able to ruck: Nic Naitanui, Scott Lycett, and Nathan Vardy.
