True, however this is only because Walkers was in a huge match everyone was watching live between big rivals everyone was pumped for it. However Kraks was in a low tempo match against adelaide which hardly generated interest.

Also, obviously, the Camera angles of walker are amazing from close up at all sides and slow mo too. However kraks only seems to have a relativly far away camera shot. THIS IS WHY THE GENERAL PUBLIC LEAN TO WALKER. Guess the official selectors were more proffessional than that and just judged which was infact the better mark.

Amusing the no of conspiracy theorists here

We have the racial theory which fails for obvious reason
We have the feel good story of ex con made good, good AFL PR
We have the appease Collingwood/Eddie theorists
We have the everyone is out to get Carlton bandwagon

All we now lack is a credible explanation why the likes of Leigh Matthews , Mark Riccuito etc are a party to these corruptions. Why would they sully their vast reputations over such a minor matter. Does Andrew have some pictures or something? Is it really Adrian who is pulling all the strings?

The plot thickens, I can't wait for the next episode

I hope it doesn't turn out to be something so mundane as its just a panel of experts who discussed it at length with an expertise and understanding that far exceeds these hallowed boards and came to the conclusion Kraks was just a smidgen better

I think someone said earlier about rating the mark by the reaction you get when you see it live. My whole family is Collingwood and my sister saw the Krak mark and said it was good, but she didn't leap out of her chair. She said if she'd been listening to Bristler's commentary she may have. She came to the Carlton Vs Essendon game with me and we both leaped out of our chairs when Tex took that mark - amazing to see. Just like when I lept out of my chair when Birdman took that mark against the Blues a couple of years back. If it's a great mark, you appreciate it - who they play for is irrelevant.

I don't care about technicalitities of the mark, I'll just go with the moment. And to all those people saying Walker's wasn't a hard mark - if it's so easy, why don't we see more of these hangers?
 
Thoroughly enjoyable thread this -especially all the posts from the Carlton supporters with the wierd conspiracy theories (save them for the Brownlow) so its time I contributed.

Nic Nat and Krakour's marks were easily the 2 standout marks of 2011 - both flying over packs at tremendous height and taking it high overhead. Either would have been deserving of the MOTY award - but only one can win it.

As for Walker's chest mark over a solitary player's back that provided the ride - this wins the award for the most overated mark of 2011 (as judged by Bigfooty). A low camera angle made it look higher than it really was, but even so, it still pales into comparison to Gary Moorcrofts mark also over a solitary player a few years back. In the cold light of day, it was quite good - but not too difficult compared to the pack marks and not MOTY material.

Man your sister is hard to please. If any of Walkers Krakouers Nic Nats or Pettards marks were not jump out of your seat moments then you are a cold fish supporter

If you can only get enthralled enough to jump out of your seat only once with these marks then whats it take to get you going?

Its all these snide comments that seek to denigrate Kraks mark. Its not too subtle. I wouldn't argue with you at all if you reckon walkers is the better mark. I just object to all these ongoing comments about the selection panel having other agendas or no knowledge of how to judge a good mark etc

I would have jumped out of my seat with all these marks. Kraks was the only one I saw live and it lit up the crowd. Why wouldn't it, you only see a few like it each year.

Walkers was easily the best, and this is coming from an Essendon supporter who went to the game and was pretty pissed off at the time. His mark made me get off my seat. Deserved the MOTY, although I still don't mind him not getting the award as it was against us... and that its Carlton. We always seem to get either the GOTY or the MOTY against us and not by normal opponents. Its always are arch rivals like Hawthorn twice and Carlton. Did Collingwood get one against us?

But it is still the best mark I have seen in while. Better than both Jurrah and Goddards last year.

There really is no way to describe it other than disturbing.

Darcy was just plain embarrassing and this now provides proof that the whole integrity of the award is lost.

This makes me fume. Do the panel members think our beloved game is a joke?

Anyone who argues that Krakouer's mark was even in the same stratosphere as Walkers is taking the piss or a complete an utter moron.

It is no different to saying something as ridiculous as Simon Beasley being as good as Dunstall.

After reading this thread its pretty clear that Walker should of won it. Supporters from every team agree apart from Collingwood supporters who are obviously going to say their own player deserved it.
