Let's be absolutely honest, I mean ab-so-lutely brutally honest. In the greater scheme of things do you really care?

If you do, venture beyond the screen and get a life. If the thing that grates you most in life is a forum moderator with slightly less knowledge than the rest of the posters, you are living a charmed life.

Highlight below for some reality checks:

3 billion people in the world today struggle to survive on US$2/day

World War II fatality statistics vary, estimates of total dead ranging from 50 million to over 70 million

Nazi Germany conducted experiments on child twins where they were kept in ice baths for upto 3 hours and later seen if they could be revived. They were also sown together to see if conjoined twins could be created. Sometimes there eyeballs were injected with dyes to see if the natural eye colour could be changed. Some of the worst crimes included creating wounds, rubbing ground glass and wood cuttings, injecting bacteria to mimic battle wounds. Of the 1500 twins 'studied' at concentration camps, only 200 survived.

The Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male was a clinical study, conducted between 1932 and 1972 in Tuskegee, Alabama, in which 399 (plus 201 control group without syphilis) poor — and mostly illiterate — African American sharecroppers were denied treatment for Syphilis.

The Poison laboratory of the Soviet secret services, also known as Laboratory 1, Laboratory 12 and “The Chamber”, was a covert poison research and development facility of the Soviet secret police agencies. The Soviets tested a number of deadly poisons on prisoners from the Gulag (“enemies of the people”), including mustard gas, ricin, digitoxin and many others. The goal of the experiments was to find a tasteless, odorless chemical that could not be detected post mortem. Candidate poisons were given to the victims, with a meal or drink, as “medication”.

South Africa’s apartheid army forced white lesbian and gay soldiers to undergo ‘sex-change’ operations in the 1970′s and the 1980′s, and submitted many to chemical castration, electric shock, and other unethical medical experiments. Although the exact number is not known, former apartheid army surgeons estimate that as many as 900 forced ‘sexual reassignment’ operations may have been performed between 1971 and 1989 at military hospitals, as part of a top-secret program to root out homosexuality from the service.

The Monster Study was a stuttering experiment on 22 orphan children in Davenport, Iowa, in 1939 conducted by Wendell Johnson at the University of Iowa. Johnson chose one of his graduate students, Mary Tudor, to conduct the experiment and he supervised her research. After placing the children in control and experimental groups, Tudor gave positive speech therapy to half of the children, praising the fluency of their speech, and negative speech therapy to the other half, belittling the children for every speech imperfection and telling them they were stutterers. Many of the normal speaking orphan children who received negative therapy in the experiment suffered negative psychological effects and some retained speech problems during the course of their life.

Welcome to LyonWorld friends. Ross wants to take Fremantle to a premiership in the next three years. You like that? Well, he doesn't want players on the list that cannot contribute to this. The old and the young are the first to go.
Next will come the players who can fill the gaps for the next three years, players with experience in the Draft.
Oh, he's playing perfectly to form. Lyon is good, very good and could take Fremantle to the top, but he is ruthless. You have all been warned.

To quote, perhaps the most famous ever moderator of a Freo board, "he's the black bits in the middle that make the stars around him shine."

And i'll buy a beer for anyone who can tell me where I got the quote from.

From Jordo if I recall correctly and I am guessing the mod is Shane.

It warms my heart to see that Saints fans have finally moved on.

I might be reading something wrong here, but....that sounds like exactly what I expected we were getting, but are you suggesting it is a bad thing?

Well.. considering the middle aged players recruited under Ross's Reign over there, i'd say it is. That could still just be put down to shit options/choices on offer at the time though. Polo, Gamble, Peake. Uuurghhh..

We have a footy dept that has given us Barlow and SCOS - I am sure they will have some input.

Correct! And the bonus question, to make it a very good beer is, which Fremantle player was being referred to in the quote and to make it a scotch (or bevy of your choice, who played bass on the song (named after said player).

Twas Shane Parker - I'll take Moo's beer thanks.

How come they wouldn't let you play guitar?

In the 2009 draft we got

Joel Houghton @ pick @36
Jesse Chrichton @ pick @48
Dylan Roberton @ pick #49
Justin Bollenhagen @ Pick @52

all before picking up Barlow or Silvagni in the Rookie Draft

Our recruiting department was lucky not smart in leaving Barlow till about overall pick #100. I hope they don't dine out for too much longer on the great Barlow Gambit.

In my mind our recruiters are going OK but nothing special.

Smarter than 15 other clubs.

You say luck, I say in the last 3 drafts -
Lower
Barlow
Mzungu
Anthony
McPhee
Silvagni
Broughton

Who has gone near this?

The fact we have added these guys and still used all of our early picks on young talent - our recruiting department certainly has my faith.

We should stick to this policy of selecting mature age players. Just because the other clubs are even more stupid than us doesn't mean we should think we are smarter than we actually are.

I think go for just one young player up to Pick 24 and then go for mature aged players after that. Leaving all the older players until the Rookie Draft is going to be seen as a very "old school" policy pretty soon.

There are actually heaps of good mature aged players to pick from in this draft and probably stuff all good young players.
