Labor has held power for around half the past 17 years. They are currently dominate in the States. So their populism is just as much if not more than LNP.

So for every LNP person supposedly consuming Sky News or Murdoch newspapers, is there not another person consuming left leaning media? If not why not? Are they incompetent at capturing their audience?

It's like those dopey sports fans that blame every loss on the umpires and not their own team's inept performances.
Understanding media influence doesn't preclude a sitting government also underperforming. It would be like ignoring the influence of Elon Musk because Harris ran a poor campaign. To ignore either would be ignorant.

Agree

Coalition can and were voted out last election by those who impose the standard

Using an hypothetical to make a point. We all can do that, e.g., "Inflation would be well under 3.0% if Labor governments around the country hadn't kowtowed to trade unions for so long".

Inflation is decided on an annual basis. During Covid immigration ground to a halt. So sure, the number was unusually big in 2021 (680,000 compared to 248K in 2019 and 252K in 2018). 2022 - 433K; 2023 - 547K; 2024 ??

The Coalition were voted out after 3 terms. After 2 terms (1 minority) of Labor, after an earlier 4 terms of Coalition.

This current Labor government may only get 1. Or the 2nd will be minority.

Even assuming there's 50/50 blame on structural issues that contribute to inflation, cost of living pressures now being felt, this does seem like a double standard.

Unless of course you're led to believe that inflation (at least non external factors) is the result of short term action and should be subject to short term solutions.

Those immigration numbers make it seem like a bi-partisan issue.

The numbers for 23/24 are actually down 90k from 22/23 (which would be bi-partisan responsibility unless you think immigration directives/decisions have same day impact).

So my utility and insurance bills have gone down?
Am I misreading my bills?

Reduce immigration and grandma starves to death in the nursing home.
Ridiculous exaggeration. We need a proper public service (not lobbyist) review of skills the nation needs and cut immigration and temporary visa extensions for areas that aren't critical. Aged care clearly would be a key need.

thats extreme.
still have skilled working visas, just reduce amount of bogus students.

simple things would be students can come to study, but not families.

You probably miss out on your uber eats order or have to wait longer for delivery, but Grandma is still ok.
ALP are working on cutting the bogus students, next step is no extensions to visas on completion unless it is a critical trade/skill for Austalia.

Can't now it was rejected. Technically they can but woul be political suicide
A voice embedded in the constitution was rejected not a voice in and of itself.
argument at the time was a good one, a legislated one can just be scrapped by a new government and would be subject to pressure

This is just saying no voice is better than one that may or may not be scrapped down the track.

Just saying the Aussie electorate is racist or that a future government might can it, doesn't cut it.

If you really thought a voice to parliament would make a difference you'd agree it should be legislated.

Your performative accusations of racism for me wanting a legislated voice are pointless.
