Shorten stuffed his opportunity by promising to actually do something to fix the structural policy problems underlying the housing crisis and generational inequality.

He was completely dismantled by one of the biggest scare campaigns ever run by the Libs and their compliant media.

This has ensured that no political party will have the guts again to attempt to fix the underlying problems in Australia ever again. The exact problems destroying Labor (again with the help of the cheerleading RW media).

The average voter is low information. They don't understand this stuff or make any attempt to.

Its only going to get worse no matter who is in power because the 4 year election cycle and the clickbait low information medial makes it too easy to run negative campaigns.

How does that work ? A majority of individual Australians voted yes for a GST despite the typical Opposition scare campaign.

Look at the pile-on against Labor’s modest resources tax only a few years later.

Shorten and Labor panicked and couldn’t sell the tax.

If Albo was the PM pitching for a GST it would have been resoundingly rejected!
