Na mate i know I can’t have a balanced discussion here so I prefer not. It’s like arguing with the cheerleaders about the quarterback. Weight of numbers are against me so I’ll let you guys have your little book club.

Makes me laugh that you can call out Dutton for all his wrong doings yet still be so threatened by him.
Oh goodie another non-reply.

Sorry, who’s “threatened” by Dutton? I really love this great country and I don’t want to see him turn it to shit just so Gina can make another billion.

Thanks for sharing your awesome analytical skills with us. Do come back some time.

Thats his style though. He knows what he's doing and does it well.
Hang on, you just said he backs up what he says with facts, but now his style is to throw out something completely made up in a jokey way?

Even if its said in a jokey way there is still some level of implied truth behind it. He cannot back up this claim re 100% orgs aren't paying the right amount of tax.

My point in this past couple pages is the left love to trot out Murdoch hate, but wouldn't care or don't care when the shoe is on the other foot. (As we've just witnessed with your claim Jordies deals in fact in which I pointed out 4 mistruths from the first 95 seconds of his latest political video).

If you're going to pretend like you'll let us have a supposed safe space, because while you're entirely capable of earnest discussion, you just can't find it here, then why not just do that and leave.

Otherwise, when you don't contribute to earnest discussion, we're going to justifiably assume you're incapable of it.

I have no idea what your Dutton point is. He is the worse alternative for PM and I'd happily tell him to his face.

His style is obvious jokes backed up with facts.
You would have to be a simpleton to not realise it

Yes obviously he isn't trying to pass his 100% joke as fact...but there is still a hidden truth there to rile up his audience and paint a picture that there is a serious problem with organizations not paying the right amount of tax (in addition to the factual 31% paying $0 he references). He has not (and probably can not) back up that there is a serious problem with organizations not paying the right amount of tax yet he is still happy to make a joke that gives off that impression.

News media should be apolitical and serve the populace in a healthy democracy, not those at the top. The ABC as I've just posted about, does a mixed job of this, but better than NewsCorp.
Mixed? Australia’s ABC refused to call Trump’s win when Blind Freddy knew it was over. When Morrison had an unassailable lead in the election he won the ABC commentator (can’t remember his name) was calling it an “absolute disaster”. Need I go on?

It's hilarious they run around saying the right are brainwashed from News Corp but they fail to see this!

IIRC, the ABC were using the Associated Press (similarly CNN) to call states / electoral college updates. They were more cautious than others (and especially Trump supporters), but I don't see anything wrong with that.

As I've said, news media should be apolitical and serve the people. If there is a better option for the people, then I would hope news media in a healthy democracy come down on that side. Being a good journalist/commentator does not equate to praising or criticising each side the same amount.

Of course, I'd want to hear/see the full context of your latter example before accepting it as being over the top, which I think can happen.

I know the word 'they' has been hi-jacked as a singular pronoun by loonies, but I was referring to 'they' in general terms rather whatever exactly what you specifically have been posting.
I mean you were saying "they fail to see this" over an attempted rebuttal of my post, so it was a fair assumption you meant me as well.

Newscorp are far far worse with their hysterical damning of Labor while lying to defend the Coalition
You simply can't compare

Whoa ease up there big guy. Didn’t realise you were the big **** on campus. “Tell him to his face” that’s actually really funny.

Yeah wading into a thread with “LOL what an echo chamber!” and then immediately declining to engage with any of the current topics any more deeply is a great way to convince people of your point of view.

Oh, has the ABC had to fork over AU$1.2 billion, the largest defamation settlement in US history (and an eye-watering four times the next biggest settlement) for broadcasting thousands of lies about an election have they?

Yea of course we can mention the ABC in the same breath as News Ltd. I mean they’re virtually the same, aren’t they?

Like with like.

Shorten stuffed his opportunity by promising to actually do something to fix the structural policy problems underlying the housing crisis and generational inequality.

He was completely dismantled by one of the biggest scare campaigns ever run by the Libs and their compliant media.

This has ensured that no political party will have the guts again to attempt to fix the underlying problems in Australia ever again. The exact problems destroying Labor (again with the help of the cheerleading RW media).

The average voter is low information. They don't understand this stuff or make any attempt to.

Its only going to get worse no matter who is in power because the 4 year election cycle and the clickbait low information medial makes it too easy to run negative campaigns.
Shorten was running a scare campaign on his own policy. The franking credits plan made people feel vulnerable. Not every recipient of franking credit refunds is wealthy.

Better to tackle the scourge of intergenerational wealth transfer by implementing big estate taxes.

Yeah because the wealthy & their accountants won’t find a way around that.

These are the people who call out the “elites” for saying RW voters are stupid & then go & prove it.
Not one of them is capable of constructing a logical argument that engages with the subject. Just repeating superficial talking points without any substance.

We don't have high Inflation stop peddling that fallacy. It's within the target band to decrease interest rates. They inherited an out of control inflation situation and it's gotten better. 2 surpluses, low unemployment, inflation almost down to where it needs to be. None of that stuff gets reported so people assume everything is high. It's the media driving the narrative here.
Headline inflation is within the target range because of energy bill subsides. It'll rebound due to base effects unless there are continuous subsidies, which is why the RBA will look through it and focus on underlying inflation, currently running at 3.5%.

Higher prices aren't a media beat up. That's ridiculous. Lower inflation doesn't mean lower prices, it just means the CPI is rising at a slower rate. The earlier high inflation is embedded in the price level.

I never said the ALP were responsible for it, although government spending is helping delay interest rate cuts by propping up employment growth.

You don't seem to understand governments carry the can when households are feeling the squeeze. It's just the way it is.

Well I found 4 mistruths in the first 95 seconds of Friendlyjordies latest political video despite one of his supporters specifically claiming what he says he backs up with facts. Pretty sure his stupid voice and stupid effects are brainwashing huge numbers of youngsters who don't pick up on these mistruths.

His most outrageous claim hidden behind his stupid voice and stupid effects was 100% of large multi-national organisations are not paying the right amount of tax. While probably nobody will believe the exact figure 100% as fact, it certainly gives the impression these organizations have a massive problem with dodging tax.

The reality is the income tax gap is far, far different to the illusion Shanks gives. https://www.ato.gov.au/about-ato/re...aps-overview/tax-gap-program-summary-findings

But as long as he can rile up and brainwash his supporters the same way you lot claim News Corp riles up/brainwashes their supporters, its ok for Shanks because he is on your side!

We are giving away our natural resources for free….. Norway taxes them at 76%!!!!! and people wonder why the US has military bases in Australia ..

“These facilities represent 56% of Australia’s gas export capacity. This means that more than half the gas exported from Australia is given for free to the companies exporting it.

The monetary value of this gas is enormous. The total value of LNG exports over the last four years is estimated at $265 billion. Exports of LNG based on royalty-free gas were valued at a total of $149 billion. To put this another way: in the last four years alone, Australians have given away the gas that made $149 billion worth of LNG, for free. $111 billion worth of this royalty-free LNG was produced in Western Australia.“

How many people know what’s going on???
This is why our media is shit…
It should be the number 1 issue in this country.

This is why we get stories about Albo buying a house .. by the corporate owned media…
