Planning to head up for the game - should be massive.

Any tips on:
- where to stay
- where to catch up for drinks before a game with Blues fans
- when tickets go on sale

If you head to the Gold Coast, you will probably get some good seats. A shame that the game will be played at the Gabba though. :D

I will be there. Plenty of places to stay around the Gabba that time of year, or stay in Brisbane and walk across the pedestrian bridge from the University.

The Pineapple Hotel is a good place for supporters getting together before matches. Last time we tried to organise something though, I ended up there, Chief was there and we couldn't find anybody else that said they would go. Gets a little weird approaching people and asking them if they are on BigFooty. To do it again, we would need to have a central person exchanging mobile numbers, as we are not guaranteed to get a specific area within the hotel to sit in.

Sh*tload of places to stay - something in Bris city central is the go.

I'll be there to watch the GC Scum get flogged. Down for beers b4 hand - who's organising?!

You don't have the cahoonas to wear a BF T-shirt for identification purposes? Are you ashamed of your own people? :(

I only owned one BF t-shirt. It faded very quickly, much like myself.

I am sure someone could wear something that indicated where we are from.

I will be there, with two mates and our missus'. Already booked the flights, organised the babysitter and just have to organise accomodation. Havent seen the Blues interstate before so this should be great.

Yep, flights booked & cant wait.

Like those who have posted above, up for any pre-game drink options.

Just a question re: accomodation.

Would it be best to stay in the Valley or around the river / CBD for post game nightlife ?

I reckon this will be a sell out.
The AFL will promote this throughout QLD big time.
They will do whatever is required to give this launch maximum exposure - that in itself willmake for an amazing build up (no doubt fireworks & all the build up usually given to a GF).

I hope the club have a better contingency for club member seats than the usual interstate pre-sale a week or 2 prior via the club.

I went up this year for the brissy game. Stayed in CBD/mall and got the free bus to the ground, but you could easily walk. Was a good night - became a fan of Bris Vegas that night!

Will probably head up again for the GC game.

Flights booked. Going up day earlier with 5 other rabid bluebaggers, staying on the Gold Coast and will possibly share a limo into the Gabba and do it in style. It will be hard not overdoing it on the gas since it is a night game and a long while to wait all day, maybe wet and wild is the answer.

All this talk about a sell-out though makes me a bit anxious over getting tickets.

I doubt I will be able to afford it, but if I can I will be there for sure. Hopefully someone will keep bumping this thread, so if I end up going, I am up for pre or post-game drinks.

I live in Brisbane about a Km from the Gabba. There are plenty of "cheap motels" within a few 100m from the ground. Other than that there are a few good reasonably priced Hotels in the City. You can walk to the ground from the City. Best is to look at "Wotif" for accommodation.
The Blues always have a supporters pre game drink at the Port Office Hotel in the City and will probably have a bus to the ground.
Also the Story bridge Hotel also has a bus to the ground if your staying in Kangaroo Point area.
I am fortunate enough to have a friend who has a box at the Gabba and will go in that.
As we get closer to the game I will let you know of anything I read up here about where the pre & post drinks will be.

Thanks for that PeeKay. I doubt I will get up there for the game, but if I do, it would be good to know what functions are going on.

HAHA I did this during the half time break of last seasons elimination final. Nobody in the Carlton members section had a clue what BigFooty was but on the plus side I met Gibbsy's Dad and Thorton's brother in the process :D

Let me know where the meet up is and I'll join for a vino or two before the game :)

Just booked my airfares - very cheap!

Now for the accommodation.

Gee I better not miss out on tickets

Has got me a little worried too, however I have a mates dad on the inside.
Isnt it wierd being worried about tickets to the Gabba of all places. Im sure the AFL have been handing out freebies there since the Brions bandwagon has all but collapsed

It's flattering that we were picked to play in Gold Coast's debut game. Can't wait! Not sure what sort of support Gold Coast will have in Brisbane, but being a brand new team it's safe to say they'll have the least vocal supporters for a little while. Have a feeling the Carlton fans might form the majority..

I'll be there with bells on and hopefully another 8 or so mad baggers. Making a long weekend of it. Will also certainly be up for pre-game drinks. Looking to book a house. Any suggestions????

Hey Kleenex, can prob get a house in Bris metro area or the suburbs which will be close-ish to the ground. Can walk or cab to & from the game. Would be close to clubs & pubs also.

Another idea for a crazy, sic weekend would be a beach house on the Gold Coast & organise a Maxi taxi to & from the game. Prob an hour on a Maxi there & back, but a beach house on the coast has its advantages (titts & ass everywhere advantages).
