Does Anamoe or Hitotsu win champion 3yo? I believe Hitotsu has 3 group 1 wins and Anamoe has 2...

Such an underwhelming day for racing. Hopefully the scribes will actually call it out and not gloss over it.

As far as Australian WFA racing, let's hope Western Empire and Incentivise are back fit and firing in the spring and surely Duais will be competitive in WFA company too. The other one is Ayrton...I think Western Empire may take the spring by storm.

Doesn’t Home Affairs win it actually beating older horses?

The hype around that race yesterday was staggeringly overblown- race of the decade etc- but it’s hard to see any of those horses with the possible exception of Zaaki winning a Cox Plate if anything decent from overseas turns up. Hopefully Hitotsu goes on with it.

Refecting on yesterdays Sydney racing, Randwick can handle infinite rain but there is a point where the racing suffers and as a result ruined what shaped as an entertaining days racing. Sitting on the speed and maintaining the rage was all the go. Run on types had their races shot before the races begun. Disappointing.

Looks like we get a slow 6 at worst next Saturday.

Yes this was semi obvious going into the race. Which was basically the Cox Plate last year (which was very weak) but Zaaki actually getting to the starting line and the two mares replacing Probabeel. Doubly lucky no B grade international rocked up to embarrass them to be honest.

Yeah Anamoe or Home Affairs if I was the one doing the scoring given they both run two races to much higher ratings than anything Hitotsu has done. Home Affairs beating the world's best sprinter at WFA and the Moe running 2nd in a Cox Plate is better than knocking off Alegron twice

It‘s a 3yo award. The top two Derbies and Guineas is a pretty compelling case. A quarter of a century since the last. Anamoe three wins from 9 starts.

Home Affairs makes his case with the (lucky) Lightning win but I’d give it to Hitotsu.

They are not giving it to Hitotsu, As Jug said the 110 rated Hitotsu beating Lightsaber and Alegron will be no match for 116 Anamoe or 117 Home Affairs with Lightnings and 2nd in CP to their name. As for potential you an make case for Hitotsu but not on performance.

Home affairs for mine, undefeated in 3yo grade 2 G1 wins including at WFA and premier 3yo race in country.

Its a nice CV and will probably get him it but for me HA and Moe were clearly the better 3yos. Both put up more dominant 3yo wins and backed it up with big WFA spikes against our best horses

Has to be Home Affairs no contest. Only horse shown to be capable of beating the older horses at the top level plus bolted in the Coolmore

Nature Strip jumps clean in the Lightning and were not even talking Home Affairs. Anamoe ultraconsistent but overrated, and quite simply beaten too frequently.

Its the sort of award they’ll look at achievements over ratings. Hang on a minute...it’s a pointless, garbage award anyway so what the hell am I even doing talking about it???

I'd have it 60/40 in favour of HA. If either of Moe (Cox Plate) or The Strip (Lightning) drop their nose in front then Anamoe has it on lock.

Some sort of discussion between them but given how both results fell HA just gets it for me

No doubt he was kissed on the dick to win the Lightning and was found out in the Newmarket but judges can only go on the race record in the books.

The Moe with three G1 runner ups and a couple G2s is a decent B track to his big performances that the others don't have. Probably doesn't count for much with these awards though

Did Castelvecchio get it for clear second in CP to a star and a couple of G1 wins?
Which just goes to show the leg up our 3yos get in the Cox Plate. They probably should revisit that, but they won’t because they want them to run, and they’re probably our best hope.

Our WFA scale needs a revision it is now very old I think last revision 2002 from memory? Still deep in the steroid era. I just want the 1.5kg for mares. WFA scale as it is does not bother me too much.

Shadow Hero beat him

Geez the field LG beat really was trash. Mystic Journey morning line second fave. A no more than average miler TAS getting a suck run up the inside for third. Magic Wand getting cut up in front by BHB the only thing that stopped back to back overseas quinella.

Then 2019/20 3yos were the biggest bunch of turn takers you’ve ever seen. Russian Camelot was probably the best of them but he arrived too late. You’re not going to win it for an SA Derby.

Castelvecchio won it by default.
