Are The Dockers Tanking?

They're not tanking. They haven't been good for two/three years. Really just won a bunch of games last year by catching teams off guard early. Early in games and early in the season.

Haven't played a complete 4 quarter game in years against an opponent of any quality.

A coach must be free to pick which players play in what position at anytime without scrutiny.

The alternative is some quasi socialist system in which clubs hand over these decisions to the AFL, such that it decides the make up of a team for what's "best for the game".

Tldr: tanking is unavoidable in a free competition.

Good to know we had the best record by being shit.

If we haven't been good for two/three years then what have the saints been?

Absolute bollocks.
2013 3rd
2014 4th
2015 1st

You don't finish in the top 4 for 3 years running by not being 'good for 2/3 years'. Admittedly we haven't been as good as Hawthorn but who has?

During that time we have beaten:
Geelong - 3 times
Sydney - 4 times
West Coast - 5 times

We even managed to beat Hawthorn.... Once

So - don't know where you are getting 'haven't been good for 3 years' from and haven't played 4 qtrs against quality opposition for years from?

The AFL is about as far from free competition as you can get. Infact, its almost quasi socialist.

Hell, they tax my club purely because its successful to prop up other clubs... that arent.

As for Freo, they want to play the tanking card real hard! The alternative is to admit utter wooden spoon levels of crappyness.

The Hawthorn game in 2014 was your last great game. (Not counting your games against the expansion sides)

The rest of games you've had great halves, but never great full games. Just so happened that you caught a bunch of teams off guard early in a season.

So are you for or against clubs being able to choose to tank?

im for clubs being able to do whatever they please. my own club has played games with err, not exactly throwing everything at a lost season. its smart.

anything else is just pissing to the wind to keep up appearances, and keep the socialist hippies over east happy.

Teams that tank lose in the end anyway.

And no Hawthorn didn't tank they chose to play youth over hacks.

They were developed and pushed every game.
How convenient was it that year Hawthorn that year won exactly the 1 less games than the required amount to get given a priority pick.

But like GWS from their inception we never tanked we were just too young ...

We played hard and tough footy and you could visibly see the consistent improvement.

If we had of kept Hay, Holland, Lekkas, Thompson and a whole bunch of other old dudes we would have won more games then but that is not tanking.

Certainly some odd stuff happening, but more of a West Coast in 2010 vibe where they're just choosing to be safe with key players.

It's blatantly obvious how rubbish Freo is without their key players, literally no depth as with your typical Ross Lyon teams and then you've got nobody up forward with Pavlich looking like a pensioner up there.
