The fans from the other countries are looking worse because of this, labelling our country as cheats as a whole and getting racist,it has brought out the hatred for anything Australian.

Other countries who have also ball tampered but hid the skeletons in the closet.

Don’t know if it has already been said or discussed as I haven’t read every post yet but I think someone is taking a bullet for Lehmann.
I refuse to buy the line that Lehmann apparently radioed down to Handscomb “What the **** is going on?” If you look at the video of when Handscomb receives the call from Lehmann he has that big grin on his face before he burst into a chuckle.

Now I’m know psychologist or mind reader but I would have thought the natural reaction to someone being asked what the **** is going on out there with no prior knowledge would have been a more sheepish and serious look.
Handscomb could have been just having a nervous laugh which is also plausible but it just looked like he was taking the piss. My feeling is the way Handscomb reacted was probably more along the lines of being told something along the following lines:

Lehmann:
“Hey Pete, these idiots have just been caught on camera Cam putting something in his pocket. Do you want to go run a message out to hide the ****ing thing properly before this becomes an issue”

Peter:
“They what? Hahaha? **** me the useless campaigners. Yeah mate I’ll go ask him to hide it”

Now when Handscomb runs the message out to Bancroft, Cam is obviously given the message to hide it down his pants as he does it immediately following the conversation which the message had to have come from Lehmann unless Handscomb come up with that idea on the spot.

So in my personal opinion, Lehmann said a little bit more than “What the **** is going on?”

Smith and Warner are cooked .
Neither will be selected for test cricket again unless its for New Zealand.
Lehmann wont be coach by our summer series against India .

Yes and no. Yes modern Australians may not 'live' the fair play values but I'd suggest that the fact we still have all immigrants swear to these values today means this concept is still very relevant and important to many Australians, and part of our national identity.

Interesting you mention Gilchrist (who walked throughout his career, not once). Gilly would be by far the most popular and universally loved modern Australian cricketer in an era where most aren't well loved. In modern society, his integrity sticks out like his ears.

On a side note and not having a shot, but noting your postings how did you personally feel when the fact that sandpaper was used came out?

At a guess, I'd say you maybe felt a bit silly and even somewhat embarrassed by Smith and co. Extrapolate that feeling out across a nation that idealises fair play and you start to get an understanding for the size of the public outcry and the penalty.

I think the Australian notion of fair play is jingoistic bollocks. Not saying that because I am English. I play along with the pantomime love/hate thing between the 2 countries, but this is my home. Been a citizen for 25 years. I just think it is the sort of thing a politician says to make people feel good about themselves, but actually means nothing.

From the guy who got off from his ball tampering charge by getting the BCCI to pull the race card.

And from one of the guys who lead the charge to threaten to boycott the rest of an entire Australian your because his mate Harbhajan was being rightfully suspended for racial slurs

That's just your opinion though, with no facts to back it up. The vibe ?

It wouldn't be for guilt by association though - it would be for team culture reasons. They've done it in the past (e.g. Mickey Arthur).

Reasonable point - but it is always hard to argue the “this is the culmination of a series of events” position when, in this instance, it seems as though he put an end to the behaviour once he saw it happening.

I must say I do appreciate Lehman pulling a Peter Beattie here “I created this problem.....and only I can fix it!”

Regards

S. Pete

So the only one who shouldn't feel too aggrieved by the penalty looks to be pursuing legal action?

Go and admire your Oled colour definition and let the adults play cricket.

Feels like I'm watching Lee Harvey Oswald getting escorted, not a guy who cheated at sport.

If anyone ever makes a witty arrested development style meta-sitcom about the Australian cricket team, that footage would have freeze framed midway through with a narrator cutting in - 'so you're probably wondering how I ended up here..'

Your welcome to your opinion mate. Even if it sounds like you are disrespecting the values of the country that took you in.:)

But no worries, we Aussies are used to Brits talking down to us while getting things wrong. We even have a national holiday based around the Brits sending us to the wrong beach to fight a war for them.;)
