And either way, catching it these days i might get a cough and a snuffle so big friggin deal

The pooled results of RCTs did not show a clear reduction in respiratory viral infection with the use of medical/surgical masks. There were no clear differences between the use of medical/surgical masks compared with N95/P2 respirators in healthcare workers when used in routine care to reduce respiratory viral infection. Hand hygiene is likely to modestly reduce the burden of respiratory illness, and although this effect was also present when ILI and laboratory‐confirmed influenza were analysed separately, it was not found to be a significant difference for the latter two outcomes. Harms associated with physical interventions were under‐investigated.

There is a need for large, well‐designed RCTs addressing the effectiveness of many of these interventions in multiple settings and populations, as well as the impact of adherence on effectiveness, especially in those most at risk of ARIs.


I really don’t care if anyone wants to wear a mask every day based on that conclusion. Be my guest.

But does this sound like the sort of evidence you’d use to mandate mask wearing on an entire population?

It goes back to my other question (which you refuse to answer), and that is: if you saw that surveillance data, and knew about the potential lethality of one of the vaccines (which would be later discontinued) would you have mandated it on the population?

On one hand I agree, on the other hand, the only time this thread really kicks off is when the Branch Covidians get triggered trying to defend lockdowns, masks and the heart-attack jabs.

Which brings me to my next point: ALL experts don’t agree. Plenty of them have issues with this stuff.

As for following medical advice…none of the relevant advisory bodies.. not ATAGI, not the Immunisation Coalition, not the nation’s chief medical officer.. nobody… recommended widespread vaccine mandates.

For a guy who doesn’t trust politicians, you sure fell hook, line and sinker for that one.

To pretend all of the above doesn’t exist, and run the shitty, ridiculous arguments that lockdowns, mask and vaccine mandates were just fantastic and not enormously damaging, requires you to pretend that anyone who questions it is insane.

But everyone knows that’s just a last-ditch act of desperation for a failing narrative.

My family and I go to doctors, we go to hospitals, we have private healthcare, I trust and respect (some) medical professionals and listen to their advice.

I take it under advisement and then weigh it against other medical opinions (which btw are frequently not the same), my own medical history (which I know best) and, importantly, any competing interests from the people administering the advice.

It might shock you to know, and I’m terribly sorry to break this news to you, but pharmaceutical megacorporations don’t give one single flying f*ck about your health, and neither do some of the medical professionals incentivised to prescribe their products. In fact, they profit from your ill-health.

Who knew, right!?

If I’m wrong about that, be my guest, and come and post your vaccine passport the next time you take one. Do that and I’ll never mention this topic again.

You shouldn’t have an issue with that, given you wanted people to show it to participate in society.

It's the appropriate thread for discussing Covid decisions that were inherently political, as will be the decisions taken in response to the next pandemic. Plus we have a Federal Covid inquiry this year.

I think a lot of people don't want to discuss how they've regressed to their pre-2020 opinions and don't want to get called out on it.

Is this supposed to be come kind of gotcha question? Who deliberately coughs into someone’s face from point blank range in public?

That’s never happened to me, ever, in my entire life.

Even if you believe they work (or you feel psychologically better about someone coughing into one, which I actually get, I probably would too) mandating them on the entire healthy population, including children (which we know now compromised their ability to learn) in case of an errant cough from a random sick person, is deranged nonsense.

We should also mandate condoms in public in case somebody ejaculates on you.

I'd say with the utter shit show that is the USA under Biden, it is pure TDS to be focussing on him (trump) page after page after page after page after page whilst totally ignoring the disaster that is the Biden USA (not a single post about the horrors he is inflicting). Its almost like for some hard up people its just about all they can do. It really is a mental illness
