I went to MCW for the first time last night with a group of people. A couple of us are wrestling diehards, a couple watched it as kids but not really anymore and a couple of others think wrestling is stupid but came along cos it was my birthday the other day and thought it would be interesting enough to check out. Every one of us loved it and had a ball. The crowd was decent and got into it, the drinks were relatively cheap and it was just pretty fun to get in to. Everyone came away saying they'd definitely go again and wanting to make it a regular thing. Not sure we'll make the next one cos I'll be away that weekend but definitely keen to check it out again.

Was hoping Slater would win the main event, that Adam(?) Brooks was such a smirking scumbag I wanted to see the smile slapped off his face.

Anyone know when the next Thornbury show would be? I think it's Ballroom Brawl, but can't find dates anywhere

Brooks is super believable as a smug dick, it's probably not too far from his actual personality although he was pretty nice when I ran into him in the crowd of a NAW show along with Kellyanne.

edit: I'd suggest jumping on their vimeo page, they have had some fantastic shows in the past that are on there for sale. Best one that I personally went to was Ballroom Brawl 2014 with Krackerjak vs Juicy and Carlo Cannon vs Mikey Peterson.

Adam Brooks is brilliant.

Have any of you had the chance to see Mark Davis live? Guy is phenomenal.

Brooks is super believable as a smug dick, it's probably not too far from his actual personality although he was pretty nice when I ran into him in the crowd of a NAW show along with kellyanne.

Oh he was great - played the heel to perfection. That's why I wanted to see him lose so bad

How often do these guys run shows? And how many different places do they hold them in?

Since reading a page or 2 back that they'd run a show in Thornbury in the last few months, I got thinking I might go if they're back anytime soon. I haven't seen live wrestling in years (in Canberra in 2008, and before that the WWE in probably 2006) - but I'm in Northcote, so it'd be pretty damn easy, and I think it'd be pretty cool to go check it out.

Do they do live commentary over the sound system for these shows? They did at the Canberra show I went to, and the guys constantly talking shit and being such obvious marks for themselves was the biggest factor in me never going back.

They run one show a month out of the Ukranian Hall in Essendon but run a larger show every 3/4 months out of the Thornbury Ballroom.


The commentary is only on the videos on Vimeo.



They don't bring in a lot of established international talent. They sometimes use NZ talent and bought in Tyler Bate, Marty Scrull and Jimmy Havoc last year but the only former WWE guys that I can remember were Chavo and Hardcore Holly. Basically though they give you most of the standout talent in Australia and every show has at least one great match.

Definitely worth checking out. Don't take it too seriously and you'll have a good time.

Question;

Anybody that goes to MCW here live anywhere close to Highett? I'd love to go to some shows, but don't drive and the train ride is far too long, so would love to organize a lift there and back.

Would happily give petrol money or buy your ticket into the show... whatever worked really.

Seriously though, they've had a few US based wrestlers wrestle in the past - Tommy Dreamer, Drew McIntyre, Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez have wrestled for OCW before.

I'd love to go just gotta figure out if anyone can watch the kids. My wife came to an MCW show in January when I got a few people to come for my birthday and she loved it, even bought a Mr. Juicy shirt. So if I go she's gonna want to come too

They seem to get some decent indie wrestlers over, Marty Scurll wrestled with them earlier in the year

No card that I can see yet, but Robbie Eagles and Ospreay faced off in Sydney for PWA on Friday (like you guys I wanted to get there and couldn't) and supposedly had a great match (duh) and since PWA don't do video, I think it'd be smart for MCW to repeat that match. Bad Luck Fale is at that show too

Mark and Kyle Fletcher are now wrestling in England. Currently tag team champions for ATTACK, and presumably some Progress appearances are in their future

I'll be at NH. Used to be a regular to MCW years back, harder since I moved away but missed out on seeing Will on Saturday, not missing out again.

Their production is one of the best in Aus, gotta get in quick though if you want a good seat!
