Tim Hazell isn't holding anyone back.
Luke Williams? One of many in the VAFA to start the year with an injury. Can SKOB win it? Well from what I saw yesterday lets just say that the gulf between A Section and B Section is as wide as the Nullabor plain.

Will we have the great procastinator of the vafa chime in on the debate?

I don't think he will be able to resist Briza.

i think the results shown by marcellin and essendon grammar so far are showing how big the gap is between A and B

Or it might just be the fact that East Keilor Grammar are a B section club playing well out of their clubs depth. A culture of choking and losing big matches will get you nowhere in the top flight.

As someone has previously stated, I hope JT and The Big Fruithead are keeping a close eye on this forum and keeping up to date. They will need to be fully informed once they join back in the discussion at the end of round 18.

my tips for the week....
Bernards
Ormond
Trinity
OH
SKOBS

need to lift in the tipping dept

ormond my tip of the round...

good luck all

ML

3 outa 5, a bit better in the tipping dept
going ok with my lock of the week....
any reports from the ormond game, (Gunnreserve?) did martinov kick straight? Ormond will be very tough to beat all year at GR.

blacks having a huge win at the badlands- im thinking blacks will be the hardest team to tip correctly this year.

SKOBS only just getting over the line against a spirited hampton side from all reports... simpson pulling out before the game woulda been a huge difference, he is the barometer at spaghetti.

very interesting round, confirming that it will be a very even comp this year in b grade.

The worst standard of umpiring I have ever seen at SKOB vs Rovers today. VAFA umpiring is in a state of crisis if those two muppets are umpiring B Section, they werent up to Under 9 standard. Shame on the VAFA for allowing this too happen. Absolutely disastrous.

Carey V Bernards game just as bad i assure you.

Seriously behind the A Grade umpires (who are average at the best of times) the standard of umpiring in the VAFA is DISGRACEFUL. Why the VAFA are hell bent on following the AFL in adopting all the new rule changes when the umpires in charge arent capable of adjudicating a game using the rules that have been in place for 100 years.

I know ill get the stanard response that its a tough gig and yadda yadda yadda, but when you have field umpires that arent fit enough to keep up with the play and boundary umpires that arent capable of throwing the ball over their head (do they train???) how is the VAFA supposed to keep its mantle of the premier surburban competition in the land?

That chip just keeps getting bigger and bigger... build a bridge buddy.

It's only VAFA football. I suggest you find a hobby.

ML, pretty entertaining game at the Gunn on Saturday. OM's jumped us early but as soon as we adjusted to the tempo, we slowly got back into the game, dragging back a 4 goal 1/4 time deficit into a 1pt lead at 3/4 time. For most of the time inbetween OM's led by 10 pts & we couldn't seem to bridge the gap.

Almost footy legends will no doubt get some footage with young gun Tim Allen taking a screamer out on the far wing, hitting Robbins on the chest then running down to take the pack mark in the square. Martinov kicked 3 but missed 2 sitters. If he can regain his accuracy, he will be more damaging.

can any umpires out there give me some sort of official rule on this one...
- player is awarded a free kick,
then plays on
the umpire then blows "advantage"
player kicks at goal (without being tackled or having any pressure applied)
resulting in a behind

This happened on Saturday at Bulleen and the umpire disallowed the behind, bought the ball ball for a set shot on goal (which resulted in a goal)

Was absolutley gobsmacked

Would have been a great weekend to be a bookie!
3 hotpots beaten, noticed that not even the OCam assistant coach could select them over Trinity, one drew and one fell in by a short half head!
And all in perfect football conditions

Have to agree with Gunn, as it was a great game of footy at E.E.Gunn and could have gone either way. The game was pretty well umpired and i even thought that at half time when we were behind. Big one this week against SKOB'S and we are home again.
Looks like B Section is going to be pretty even which makes for a great comp.

Don't stress TBP. You'll have plenty of time to brush on up on what's been happening from Round 14 onwards, after it's become mathematically impossible to stay in the top flight. But hey, it's nice to know you're keeping an eye on us down here.

"...feeling so insecure..." I think is how the song goes...

Argh, horrible round to pick. The OCAR/SB draw didn't help.

maybe goes with the St Bernards handpassing a rushed behind through from 15 m out , and no freekick to Old Carey. You win some, you lose some

yep, i agree

umpiring was terrrible across the park for both teams

umpiring standard over the past few years seems to continually get worse...

Fortunately or unfortunately i cannot comment on umpires due to my D4 writing. It is not an easy gig though. On a different note, has Marchesani pulled the pin??

interesting to see it is listed as a vic country jumper not a St Kevins one!

The VAFA hasnt adopted this rule as far as I'm aware but I could be wrong.

BS, both AFL 2009 rules changes have been adopted in the VAFA for 2009.

The rule allows for the ball to be handballed through the goals or points as long as there is actual pressure. Being clear may be deemed pressure for some, but it should have been paid as a free kick.

Think they have BS but as per the deliberate rule they will have to be more lenient in the Ammos.

Anyone care to say who is premiership fav right now....looks a very very even comp. Any news on Gardiner at OMs...injuried? got an offer?

Marcha had a knee reco last year, look for him to play the back end of the season.
My point was more that his jumper is up for sale on Ebay- click on the link

You are BS - the rule has been adopted - so much so that it was enforced against us last week in Clubbies of all places!

I saw that Bernards one - happened right in front of me at the Bulleen Rd end. If Reidy 5 or more metres away constitutes genuine pressure....Was clear to me that the free should have been paid....

Yes indeed!!
The great man Briza...right again!

I hear it will be a giant of a game at the Uni on saturday Briza.

Is that true?
You would know better than me snag, but I have heard a whisper Loates will own the goal square at the Uni this Saturday afternoon. By the way, are you stalking me on this thing, whenever I post you jump on within half an hour....
