It was great to see Verlards pop his shoulder out celebrating a goal. what a joke, kick a goal and then hurt yourself giving high 5's and pumping the air.
maybe poetic justice for an earlier incident? plus it was a lucky goal as he sh it himself and refused to put his head over the ball, so threw his boot at it. luckily went through the big sticks. i think he celebrated so hard because he knew he squibbed it but saved face with the fluky 6 points.

Won't matter as his year is over. king hit behid play = weak dog = atleast 2 weeks.

King hit behind play?

Kinsella threw an elbow at his throat while they were both watching the ball up so Verlado calmly turned and gave him one in the nose. Kinsella went down quicker than a dirty in the Edgewater toilets then rightfully copped a spray from the OEG fans. He then preceeds to jump the fence with blood flowing from his nose and chest a 55 year old spectator.

Should also be noted that Verlado did not play the first quarter, was sent off in the 2nd, his game was over midway through the 3rd and dislocated his shoulder 3 times during the game yet still kicked 4 goals. Fantastic effort.

Who cares about any incidents, its a game of footy and these things happen! OE should stop trying to deflect attention of what was a very poor performance and should try and re-group for a tough game against UNI..

Noboby like to be known for choking and this is a real possiblilty for OE..

you're about 2 years too late surly... more like this could turn their monkey-turned-gorilla on their back into king kong..

Fantastic game of footy on Saturday and full credit to STBMT who are clearly a cut above the rest in B Section. Was a very entertaining game with OE showing their class at times to eventually be overpowered by the Tigers who were simply awesome.

Also saw the incident in second qtr...anyone who says it was a king hit is kidding themselves...if you cop an elbow to the throat of course you are going to react...and with him jumping the fence to confront a spectator really says what the bloke is about. Was dissapointing to see this happen and you would expect the VAFA administration to do something about it rightly or wrongly.

Full credit to the STBMT Physio in assisting an opposition player. Was great to see such good sportsmanship that wouldn't come from a lot of clubs in the VAFA.

Really hope to see a re-match in a few weeks as these two teams are clearly the best two in the comp although STBMT will win it in a canter.

These sorts of incidents are unsavoury and one of the reasons thuggery (either by STBMT or OE players) simply can't be condoned. No doubt Velardo will have to face the Tribunal, but it's highly likely Kinsella will also have to face the music in the coming days.

To suggest "its a game of footy and these things happen" betrays a distinct lack of appreciation about VAFA footy and how it prides itself on having very few occasions where this occurs.

Let the maniacs play in the suburban leagues and leave our competition to be played fairly and squarely by ball players who focus their aggression on getting the footy and hitting players fairly when they have a reasonable expectation of contact.

OEG making excuses for a change, the cold hard fact is that Number 9 should never have played with that shoulder if it is going to come out when doing his pathetic celebrations.

We all know taking injured players into finals is a recipe for disaster, they have no one to blame but themselves, they were outclassed on every line and made to pay for some insipid play through the midfield.

Well done to the Tigers on A grade status for 2008, let's hope they can acheive what they clearly deserve.

blah, blah, blah footy footy footy

I haven't seen any excuses from OEG on here. They were clearly outplayed. What has been said is just some clarification surrounding an incident that took place in the game. OEG have put the result behind them and are now concentrating on this weeks game, as I'm sure blacks are doing the same after yesterdays great win against SKOBs, after most (including myself) had written them off.

I'm sure St Bedes are enjoying the week off that they so richly deserve.

Things seem to be going around in circles here with the Kinna incident and the man with the shoulder that wont stay in its hole, so heres a little nugget i picked up reading the back page of the sport pages in The Age this morning.
And I quote, "St Bedes-Mentone Tigers earned their way into A section for the first time in their history with an enourmous shellacking of Old Essendon in the B-section semi-final on Saturday. Rumours have circulated in VAFA circles that the club's Mentone ground might be considered too small for A Section but competition officials have no intention of making the Tigers play elsewhere."
So it looks like the Postage Stamp will live to fight another day in 2008. I personally agree with the decision, its the Home of the Tigers and where they should rightfully play. A Section footballers should be able to play in all conditions, even if it is on a pot holed sandpit.

i cant believe the talk on this thread isn't about OE about to possibly bow out of the finals in straight sets AGAIN!!

this must be massively in the back of players minds.. they'd be wanting to be in front come 3 qrtr time this weekend, otherwise they'll be looking down the barrell of another wasted opportunity and another stint in B grade...

does anyone have any stats as to when OE actually last won a game during a finals series?

I thought OE were playing some good footy till about 20 minutes into the third quarter. It was pretty clear after that that they had nothing left in the tank and were duly smashed from that point onwards.

I have the feeling UB may have put all their energies into getting over the SKOBbers yesterday, and that OE will bounce back to play the Tigs in the final.

I was sitting right next to the OEG fan and let's just say there was some very unsavoury things being said. I don't subscribe to the theory that just because you're sitting behind the fence that it exempts you from some form of response from the player being abused.

I agree. These tossers who come to the footy to abuse opposition players all day are pathetic. They either can't get a kick themselves or never could.

No quality player, past or present, would feel the need to act like an idiot over the fence.

warnie would be proud of the spin oe are trying to put on this kinsella incident. let me see kinsella gets wacked behind play, verlardo reported by umpire watching incident, kinsella abused by spectator whilst going off the field to receive treatment (blood rule - i wonder why??). I guess we now know what bracksy has taken over oe's pr department since retiring.
I guess we better not mention the 30 oe supporters (would that be the reserves team??) that went over to the tigers huddle at 3/4 time hurling abuse trying to incite an even uglier incidient whilst they were 50pts down?? with 55 year olds setting the example for them it is little surprise....

You forgot to mention the exact same OEG fans standing behind the goals in the last quarter calling any SBMT player who touched the ball '******s' and '********s' ;)

I do have to say, OE supporters are quite feral.. seen them get on the turps during games and let loose with their foul language with kids around.. the odd bullsh1t etc etc is ok, but "f*ckin c*nt" at the top of one's lungs is disgraceful..

they say st bedes are bogans, i hate to see what they refer to themselves as!!

The guru chose to attend this B grade fixture on the weekend and having no allegiance to either club i can safely say that there was definitley one B GRADE club out there on display. People say the jackas supporters are feral (and at times they can be, can't we all..) but the display of the OEG supporters particularly at 3/4 time was disgraceful.

Let me say this, the behaviour did not go unnoticed by 3 VAFA heavywieghts who were not impressed. I would not be surprised if a please explain was heading to keilor.

Otherwise a highly entertaining game of footy, Tigers seem to have shaken the tag of not being able to play on big grounds pretty well. I think OEG will bounce back and the GF will be a repeat. Scoreline and all, lets hope the bomber supporters improve their conduct.

TBP,

Are Old Bogan Grammarians confident this Saturday. Surely the the choking tag that has been assocaited with you guys would have to be playing on the minds of everyone this week

Is OE's throat getting tight??
Does anyone now the heimlich maneuver??
I think they might tank this week anyway!!

Old Bogan Grammarians... that's cute... not to mention original!

Don't think the boys are too worried about what's happened in the past. 10 years ago we were in D or E grade or something like that and this time next week we might be in A Grade. A bit more silverware along the way would have been nice but we'll just take A Grade at this stage.

almost as original as the "stbogans" call you always use!
