Ballantyne wants out - Eagles

Not sure how old Rosa is (was) but if he was worth 31 then it's hard (impossible ) to argue Balla is not worth 34.

Fair point

Rosa is about a year older than Ballantyne so the same age thereabouts last year as Balla's is now - slightly older actually

I'd suggest he wasn't truly worth 31 but As far as I could tell Gold Coast had 31 and 35 to trade - they gave us 31 for rosa and 35 to Freo for this years 2nd rounder. So they weren't overly fussy

Fair to say (I think) that this years draft is deeper so 34 this year is arguably more valuable than 31 last year

Perhaps saying Ballantyne isn't worth 34 was unfair but I do think given the age profile of our list we need to use 34 in the draft and not for a 29 year old.

Reckon you guys would be more than happy with 34 for Ballantyne considering it appears 35 is going to get you a 23 year old KPD that just had a very good finals series

Also consider that your football manager has said he's not received any interest at all on Ballantyne which is also a relative indicator of his value

I think all it means is that WCE don't want him for whatever reason..it seems what he wanted was a longer contract in WA, him wanting to go interstate was highly unlikely and I doubt there would have been much negotiation done to achieve that end.
My take is that WCE don't want him cos half your members would throw up their chardonnay soaked gourmet pizzas.

gourmet pizzas hahah!!! Why is that so perfect. Eagles are an expensive average gourmet pizza of a club. Like the chef won an international pizza award back in the day, but then got shut down by the health department because of unsanitary conditions. now its just sort of average but some what popular with the same menu its always had and the pizza man award hanging in the back.

My thoughts are that Ballantyne definitely wanted to leave and start fresh at a new club. He mentioned Eddie Betts a few times and how changing clubs revitalised his career. Ballantyne probably felt his career was grinding to a halt and he couldn't impact games. He probably saw our club struggling and no short term future for us. I have no doubt he will be remembered as an FFC person though.

Ballantyne's problems are his own though. While he has some great strengths, his weaknesses have not improved at all. You cannot slip over as much as he does and expect to make an impact. It got to the point where it is getting ridiculous and constantly going to ground is a sign your career is winding down.

Also not sure how much Ballantyne's game leans to modern footy. Even as a small forward, you have to be able to win 1 on 1 contests. Kicking long to Eddie 1 on 1 is very dangerous for Adelaide. Kicking long to Ballantyne is almost certain to rebound back the other way.

Wc will probably make some token offer for Balla on the last day. They seem pre-occupied with finding a ruckman at the moment. Be interesting to see what Freo will do, if that happens.

How interesting two players that can't stand up to finals heat

Makes sense to me
Sounds like Nat might let people know when they are not cutting the mustard and some don't like hearing it...

Michael Voss was like that apparently. Gee what a horrible driving force to have at your club (I can't get emoji to work but imagine rolly eyes guy here).
