Roast Ballas and Mayne

Mayne and Ballantyne should drop themselves Jack Watts style. They would know they are playing like rubbish and are not contributing.

As others have said in here Mayne not only doesn't kick goals but his field kicking is atrocious. Ballantyne must have roller skates for boots because I have never seen a footy player unable to keep his feet.

The whole forward line has been atrocious for multiple games now and should be dropped (except Walters). There's absolutely know body work being done on individual defenders before hand, no repeat leads to keep the likes of Gibson, Rance, or other loose defenders accountable. The amount of times vs Brisbane that Clarke, Pavlich, and Taberner were standing in a triangle within 15m of each other with no movement whatsoever was very annoying to watch and must have been extremely frustrating for the midfielders looking to hit someone up.

Delivery into the forward line has been complete garbage and so slow that 12 of the hawks would be back there before the ball was.

I don't think we have better to use. I'd probably have Mayne out before Ballantyne.

Would have disagreed on Mayney all season until now.

In a team that doesn't score enough I think he has to go in place of someone that will hit the scoreboard a hell of a lot more. We might see a slight dip with defensive pressure but it would have to be worth it surely.
We need to get more offensive and I think the man to come in has to be Crozier.

I will back in Ballas though.

I have a bad feeling that it's the role, not the player.

When deBoar is playing the defensive forward role, we was also strongly criticized for his offensive abilities.

So we put Mayne there. It made sense then. Mayne was a good mark for his size, fairly accurate at goal (at that time). Improve his pressure acts, and he'll be perfect for the job. Well...he's pressure act is good, but his marking and set shots turned bad (to put it nicely), if he even gets the ball.

Now, Ballas 2014 is how it is suppose to be. Pressuring when we don't have the ball, dangerous when we have it. Now, seem like Ballas caught the bug as well. Pressuring more, but offensively getting very little of the ball and when he does just mess it up.

I suspect it's the coaching instructions, to prioritize defensive pressure over offense. Sure, take them out. But I suspect deBoar is going to just slot back in anyway.

West Coke is about to get a reality check in the next 4 weeks.
I think they'll put in a good showing. It's possible they'll win one of the Sydney/Hawthorn games. Obviously I hope they don't. But they've improved a lot and seem to be a completely different team since we reamed them earlier this year.

Hopefully we become a different side considering the reaming we just endured.

I think West Coast's master plan to ensure Fremantle never wins a flag is coming to fruition. Recognizing that Fremantle under Ross Lyon would be a force to be reckoned with and in light of their recent ongoing losses to Fremantle, they hatched a master plan to ensure that the improvements in work ethic, training, tactics and all over professionalism would be for naught.

How to do this?
By making sure the forward line has inaccurate kicks.
To ensure that players played the man and not the ball. "Just chase them and you'll keep your spot"
By giving confusing strategies about where to lead to ensure that every attempt to mark is done as a three on one.

And who was their go to man to ensure the plan succeeded?

I would hope so too! It starts now Ross.

Going back to the OP; I am fully endorsing of dropping Ballas and Mayne. This has been going on for way too long now. Mayne should've been dropped last year. Ballas needs to be dropped now. Crozier and Taberner to replace them.

At this stage you'd be asking Suma to pack his bags and just getting Pav to run the show. Waters, Pav, Ballas, and Mayne. Surely you can squeeze something outta that?
I have been saying this for 2 years! Suma - great player. May make a good senior coach. But his playing ability was so unique & weird, it's not something you want to teach an entire forward line.

If Mayne and Ballas need to spend some time in the reserves to come back as the top line players due to current low confidence levels so be it.

But don't forget that it was the Ballas and Mayne show that took us so close in 2013. They were a difference in the forward line to any other team. We have actually got to get them up and running again to have any chance.

At the minute WC would probably destroy Freo. They're playing some pretty good footy.

WC struggle if their midfield can't get on top. Every time they play a game with a solid ruckman they tend to get toweled up. We should fine.

I'll be barracking for them vs the Hawks though thats for sure. Dream would be to have WCvsHawks here first week of the finals.

i would say he went down ground, minimum 6 times on the weekend during a contest. He was atrocious.

He is coming close to Brett Peake levels which is amazing for a guy who has such a low center of gravity.
