Living in a hotel for 2 months would be a bit of a grind, I can understand that. But then again a lot of those blokes could’ve signed for their home teams if they wanted to.

And not sure why there are no games from Monday through to Wednesday next week.

That’s what makes Lynn’s comments even more absurd. It sounded like he was also speaking on behalf of some of the other players but the fact it came out of his mouth and was implying that he is feeling the effects of burn out is nothing but a cop out. He plays for his home team so he can’t even use the living away from home for 2 months excuse. In fact he didn’t even leave South East QLD for the first 2 weeks of the comp given he had 3 home games to start the season with a big break in between the 2nd and 3rd game. Maybe it’s his ****ed shoulder that’s burnt out and is probably sick of rehabbing it. At least that sounds more believable.

He definitely thought he was speaking for the players of most teams when you read between the lines. But the problem for him is his team are shit and got a favourable draw so his comments look like dogshit upon reflection and analysis. Like one big excuse. The fact he carries on with his media and commentary gigs at the mo looks terrible in my opinion. Who the f**k is he to run the rule over teams in the comm box when his team sucks seven shades of shit and they keep trying to hit themselves out of trouble even though it hasn't worked for them once this season. What kind of a captain let's his team do that?? You reckon a CEO of a major company which is struggling gets his staff to take out big loans to run down the casino and chuck it all on red? That's what's Lynn is doing right now chucking all his hopes on a lottery

A game plan of hitting yourself out of trouble is an ok plan to have if you have players competent at consistently being able to adequately perform the task. The fact Baz is getting on and losing his eye, Bryant is young and inexperienced, and Lynn is being found out again by spin means we do not have the personnel to carry out that game plan. Our middle order is also filled by players that do not suit that game plan.

I loved the whole bash brothers identity and the fact we use to put the fear in opposition bowlers before we even got to crease and we were a bit of an all or nothing team but those days are long gone and we need to move on from it and find a new identity. I would love to form an identity where we became a bowling attack that could actually bowl as a unit like the Scorchers title winning sides and give ourselves the best chance of success.

We need to get rid of Baz at the end of the season but hope he gets a fitting send off.
He still deserves to go out with some dignity.

If I’m Heat management, I’m looking at AB De Villiers straight off the bat as a replacement for
Macca and I’d consider also giving him gloves and dropping Pierson. Nothing against Jimmy but he is a serviceable bat and nothing more. Mujeeb had a good game tonight but would like someone who takes wickets more consistently. I’d probably still keep him around for another season unless something better came along. Hopefully a fit Patto can give us that mongrel next season and Lalor has been the most improved player for us
and is a decent enough BBL bowler now. If we could sign AB we could line up like this:

1. AB DeVilliers (WK) (C)
2. Max Bryant
3. Chris Lynn
4. Joe Burns
5. Alex Ross
6. Matt Renshaw
7. Ben Cutting
8. James Pattinson
9. Josh Lalor
10. Matt Kuhnemann
11. Mujeeb Ur Rahman

12. Brendan Doggett

I could live with that moving forward. I don’t want Swepson anywhere near this side anymore.

Not a bad side although I'd be dropping Ross and looking for a local replacement he made a half century the other day the only good thing he's done all season. Swepson can get f*cked I agree

I thought before the season started we were linked with Stoinis before he resigned with the Stars? Don’t know whatever happened with that rumour but I think it was before we signed Patto.

Ross hasn’t had much of a chance all season though I’m not overly fussed over him but his innings the other day when we fell apart was promising and is better than what we have. In terms of locals, they may not be world beaters but we could have looked at getting Neser or Wildermuth back but they are not what we need. Definitely need a reliable bat up the order which is why I’d be targeting AB. I think AB would also free Lynn up a bit and take some pressure off him and would be a good foil for Bryant. Trying to think who we could get locally to fix our middle order woes. Burns and Ross could do a job until we could find someone better.

As a casual observer I think the quality is not there. You can talk about a longer season and broadcast rights but in the end the teams just aren't very good and it's reflected in our national T20 team which also isn't very good. Unless they get some decent international players in I can see the novelty of watching 8 state teams each supplemented by half a dozen club cricketers getting really old. Disclaimer, I'm a long was from being the BBL's target market.

If AB isn't up for coming out, I'd be looking at David Willey. Pretty handy opening bowler but was stuck behind too many at the Scorchers.

Yea what happened with that Stoinis deal? I thought I heard that rumour too?? Maybe there wasn't enough protein in Queensland to keep Stoinis's guns ripped??

But how do you get a neutral venue? You can’t say a year out, team X won’t play finals and now Canberra, Gold Coast are not neutral
They mean a random location. The NFL has had insane luck that none have resulted in a team hosting a SB.

I bet they're just desperate to play the Finals in a tv friendly timeslot. They hate it when Perth do well. Booking a guaranteed location would save a lot of money, though I'm not sure how many people would turn up for a Hobart Hurricanes vs Sydney Thunder final at marvel stadium...

Those pesky small market teams like Hobart hosting finals doesn't generate enough dollars for them. It's supposed to be Stars v Sixers every year goddamnit. Canberra is not so bad as a host venue for the final because there are a lot of public servants there from all around the country and the neutrals would roll up for the novelty factor since they don't have a lot of games there. If they are hosting it in Adelaide for example, are the Adelaide fans going to give a crap about a Hobart v Brisbane final, after they have sat through 14 Adelaide matches. I very much doubt it.

MKR is only broadcast Monday to Wednesday.
Which is why all sport should be on pay tv and NOT FREE

Free-to-air tv cannot do justice to sport. If Scott Morrison was assassinated, commercial TV would cross to that story and stay there. Foxtel/Kayo would stick with what they are paid to do, show sport, without concern for the news, current affairs, My ****ing Kitchen Rules, etc

For many reasons, this season has been and will be one to forget. The only saving grace would be Hobart winning the final.

"The Big Bash League grand final has been bumped from prime time. A start time between 2pm-2.45pm is expected despite 86.3 per cent of games this summer being played under lights. That timeslot will allow the broadcast to lead into Channel 7’s Sunday night news and then My Kitchen Rules.

A clash with either high-rating program would push the BBL on to a secondary channel, which Cricket Australia wants to avoid. Channel 7 does not want the BBL disrupting its flagship shows. CA powerbrokers have already started identifying problems from this season. A revamp is expected next season, which could return the BBL final to prime time on a Friday or Saturday night."

It's sad there are so many braindead people who give shows like My Kitchen Rules ratings. What a scripted cringeworthy shitshow.

you act like it’d be wrong for commercial TV to cross to a story of the PM being assassinated over broadcasting a sports game. not to mention i daresay if something like that happened, it would be brought to the attention of the audience

No. I completely understand that commercial TV would cross to major news.

Which is why sport should be on dedicated sports channels, and they only exist on pay tv.

Hence why I want all sport only on pay tv.

Side note: there is a great ESPN 30 for 30 episode called the 17th June 1994. Basically was a big day for sport, but was also the day that OJ Simpson was charged and went on his wild yet polite car chase with the police. Almost all of the TV networks interrupted the NBA to show what was happening.
