For many reasons, this season has been and will be one to forget. The only saving grace would be Hobart winning the final.

"The Big Bash League grand final has been bumped from prime time. A start time between 2pm-2.45pm is expected despite 86.3 per cent of games this summer being played under lights. That timeslot will allow the broadcast to lead into Channel 7’s Sunday night news and then My Kitchen Rules.

A clash with either high-rating program would push the BBL on to a secondary channel, which Cricket Australia wants to avoid. Channel 7 does not want the BBL disrupting its flagship shows. CA powerbrokers have already started identifying problems from this season. A revamp is expected next season, which could return the BBL final to prime time on a Friday or Saturday night."

Or maybe because they don’t want a Sunday night game during school time so they can act get a crowd to show up...

I think every final after this season will be at night (probably Saturday). BBL|08 scheduling has been an unmitigated joke.

So the exact same of last year just it's MKR rather than I'm a Celebrity.

How many 'major'* sporting leagues in the world are dictated by cringeworthy, contrived reality TV shows?

*Yes I know the BBL isn't major but CA want us to believe it is.
The AFL allows the networks to dictate fixturing to a certain extent.

This is the whole problem with channel 7. They wanted the cash and didn't give a goddamn about the product itself. Someone actually sat in a meeting and said 'well we need to make sure we don't fixture games on this date, this date and this date because My Kitchen Rules is the priority'.

Could tell from ball one that their coverage was nothing compared to Channel 10.

They have a gap of a few days between the last games and the finals every year.

Yes I know, as I said, convenient that the break between the group matches and the finals just miraculously happens to be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday when ch7 wants to infest the screen with 6 hours of MKR

Conveniently the break is also a day longer than in previous BBL seasons.

Number of stretches of 2+ days w/o a BBL group match:
1: BBL|04, BBL|05, BBL|06, BBL|07
2: BBL|01, BBL|02, BBL|08
3: BBL|03

Number of stretches of 3+ days w/o a BBL group match:
0: BBL|02, BBL|04, BBL|05, BBL|06, BBL|07
1: BBL|03, BBL|08
2: BBL|01

Bomberboyokay I'm interested to read your thoughts on how you think this years BBL has gone given that you probably had the biggest gap in your enjoyment of T20 cricket in comparison to Test cricket on this board. As a big fan of T20 have the enjoyed the extended Big Bash as opposed to most on this board? Do you still think the BBL's long-term ambition should be to run from October to March?

Not having a go by the way I'm just interested to hear an alternate view and I thought you were the best person to ask.
