I know there's been chat in here of blowing up the Stars and starting again, but kinda want to do the same with the Gades - especially our bowling unit which has seemed rather limp most of this season
I know Rogers has been our strike bowler over recent seasons, likely our current leading wicket taker with 11 but he seems to be very predictable and not exactly someone seen as a partnership breaker unless the surge has been called & batsmen get themselves out
When there's something in the pitch he's looked dangerous, otherwise opposition batsmen don't seem too troubled by him. Add in that he's also proven something of a liability in the field with the dropped catch of Maxwell tonight, and in the first game the missed runout of Henriques - looked like we tried to hide him tonight but that's not a permanent option, and he's a slightly frustrating player
Richardson has also been hit & miss going back to last season - he has only the 3 wickets so far this season to go with just the 6 from 7 matches last season and he's simply getting smacked around the park each match
Crone is 27 - made his debut for us tonight. So is he a long term option that just needs to find his feet or nothing more than a fill in?
O'Neill seems to have been made a scapegoat from a bowling perspective after going for 11 from his 1 over last match. Don't think they can use the excuse he was sore as he was fielding tonight. He looked an exciting prospect last season and would like to see what he has to offer if they trust him a bit more
I'd like to see at least one of O'Neill & Crone in the 11 the rest of the season - they may go for a few runs, but so are the more experienced players and wouldn't mind seeing what they have to offer over our remaining games
Sutherland is another who hasn't performed as well with the ball in hand as would have been expected - 5 wickets in his first two games, only 2 wickets in our next 4. I also wouldn't mind someone like Finch working with him from a tactical side of things as I think we've got it wrong in the field the last couple of mattress and made it way too easy for the chasing team
The one player tonight who tonight was willing to keep pitching it up on that hard to hit length was Sandhu and he was rewarded with 3 wickets, plus a run out during his first over
Not sure who our bowling coach is but they suck - seriously, we saw how hard it is to hit the ball of a good length but too often we seem reluctant to continually hit that good spot and try to get too fancy with what we do
