Collingwood have made a diabolical blunder here, and paid two first round picks for the privilege. They try to dress it up as looking after one of their own but that is nothing but spin. They got seduced by the fairy tale and broken by a last gasp grand final loss and thought he was the missing piece. Nope.

Yeah they’re looking in the wrong spot. A decent key forward is a must to win a GF and they just don’t have that. Admittedly they did unsuccessfully chase Lynch but without finding one somewhere they are not a real threat.

Just keeps on giving. That pick swap was a gem.

I wonder if we can keep trading it for a future first round pick, until we turn it in to pick 1.

Sort of like the bloke who started with a paper clip and kept up trading, until he traded for a house.

They have plenty of KPP forwards. Degoey, Stephenson, Elliot.

They have the talent to win a grand final, easily.

Didn't Mihocek kick more goals than Hipwood last season?

Hipwood was a 21 year old stringbean still developing , played one less game and still had more shots on goal. In any case, I don't recall anyone making a case for Brisbane's forward line being better.

Spoiler: It is though.

That's not difficult when Collingwood's forward line is either drinking or gambling.

Fair point, was looking very ominous and frightening when we played at the Gabba this year

Yeah none of those guys are key forwards. History has proven many times you need a power key forward to win a GF. Sure there is the odd exception to the rule. But if your trying to win as the exception to the rule, good luck.

agree they need a key forward, Richmond won it with just Riewoldt then won it again with 2 KPf in Riewoldt and Lynch. West coast dit it with Darling and Kennedy. I think you have to have at least one dominate one and the Pies don't have a reliable one but acknowledge they did try with Lynch. BUT you also need a Center Half Back, they have Moore at fullback and went after Stephen May to fill the void. Dunn kinda filled the hole for injuries and they took Roughead who is a long way from a Jeremy McGovern, Harris Andrews, Phil Davis reliable type. Brilliant midfield but for me, in the big moments it's those big key position boys that take the grab and re-settle play in finals.

Well the above is basically saying we need a KPF as well to have any chance at a flag.

Last year’s two finals basically confirmed this.
When it comes to finals, experience is like Gold.
We now have a ‘little bit’ of finals experience, so hopefully that counts for something next year.
Especially for our, still young, KPF’s.

STOP TALKING ABOUT THAT GAME.

Where is BRAB when you need him.

Why would you tag me into this thread. I was living a happy life before I was reminded of that game again.

I think we are in a lot better position with KPF's than others knocking on the door of finals. I think we have 2 that can be very good and some back up's. I hate using the excuse they are still young but I feel Hippy is about there now and fingers crossed, it's McStay's year. I know Richmond, Eagles and GWS have 2 decent forwards, us and the Doggies are there about with at least 'possibles' on the list I just cant see the same at the Pies - yet. Then our set up with a resting ruckman is slightly different than the others and with Charlie we are a slightly different proportion that the two monster set up.

At the end of the day Richmond were the better team that finals series. Their system in which they moved the ball was insane. We struggled to match Richmonds speed. I think the club has addressed need with the recruitment of Ah Chee, Birchall and natural development of Starcevich, Bailey and Answerth. I suspect Witherden will be on the outer next season due to his lack of leg speed.
