There are some shocking comps about, there would be more than 5 worse than the Mcdfnl you will find.

True, but the important thing is that clubs in those leagues are giving people a chance to play the game or follow a club.

Some leagues off the beaten track are just happy to rustle up enough guys and girls to play footy and netball and give the community a focal point. Having a club means that it buys food and drinks from local businesses and keeps them running and employing people.

Frost and Huntly. Both handy players. Any others?
I’ll put it another way. If you picked a best 22 from this years MC league, where would they finish at seasons end in Bendigo?
3 players from Carisbrook playing in Ballarat league and going well this year also 2 or 3 from Navarre playing well in the Wimmera league so not sure MJ.

Whilst the depth of player may not be as good in the MCDFNL there are some bloody good footballers in the league. Cowan at Trentham, Holt at Natte are both players that could play a much higher standard. Carisbrook has traditionally had some really good footballers who have excelled in higher standard competitions and Navarre has been the same. Each competition is different and players play in leagues for different reasons. Whilst clubs in the MCDFNL have their own struggles mainly due to player numbers and shrinking populations, one thing about it compared to many other leagues is it has been stable for a long time. Credit should go to AFL Goldfields on how they have administered the league for many years and supported their member clubs. Many other governing bodies could take a good look at how the MCDFNL and Ballarat FNL are going strongly and continue to be well run.

Another superb effort from the Pies for no points.

Halfway through the third term the upset was on, with Kal Huntly out injured and a few others missing it was a huge step forward again.

Always a touchy subject but the umpiring across the league is just about at crisis point I think, going under the radar because of all the other issues but the lack of expertise and competence is glaring.

shock horror Bendigo side getting a good run with the umpires against one of the country clubs.

I caught up with a few old mates at Gissy v Flat today, and must say the umpiring were as good as invisible, did a great job. Flat battled hard, they seem well drilled, but didn’t have the class to go with Gisborne.

I hear you, that goes back to my days in the 80s but it’s a different beast now.

Kids being promoted that are clearly not ready and plenty who just clearly don’t have the capacity to handle the level they are being turned out in.

I reckon if the umpires were a club they would be losing by 250 each week.

Toma to join Thrum at Irymple. Is that a permanent move?
I would say it’s just a one off Square had the bye Essendon VFL had the bye came straight back in the VFL last week after an 8 week injury I would say he was just wanting to get more match fitness in

Safe to say finals already decided in every footy grade

The bfnl board get their bonus this year as it looks like sandhurst make every grand final again

Well done to all

God help us if ever Castlemaine are ever successful, what will these dills whinge about then. Then again cant see that happening. Go the Slags, or Storm or whoever.

Full of respect for Sandhurst as a club.

Yes I don’t agree with how the game has been run and think they have benefited from that but they are undeniably a well run club.

With the almost complete lack of support they have it would be easy to have tipped into the abyss in those lean years, full credit to them for being where they are.

Danny Ellis has a hell of a lot to do with that. Donny Armstrong was another, not to mention Judith Hall.

I am sure the Dragons would be the first ones to confirm they have been absolutely blessed with the presence of these individuals who are all irreplaceable.

With the walk up start they get with hand picked juniors entering at under 14s they would be one of the most underperforming clubs in the land

Your previous post was complaining about them making the grand final again!!!!!!!
