Bendigo FL discussion 2024

Completely different topic.

It has gone under the radar but I think the Kangaroo Flat coach Michael Ellings has done a pretty good job this year as the wheels were falling off when he took over and some on this forum questioned his appointment.

They have had some stability about them and played some pretty good football at times. Flat need to stick with Ellings and give him another couple of years at least to develop their younger players and continue to build their team.

I’d be very interested to hear what the word from inside Flat is.

There needs to be an urgent meeting for all clubs in the bfl heathcote north central, lv and any club wanting to join those leagues this week to actually have a plan for footy in Bendigo for the future. By the end of the year there'll be 5 teams left otherwise

My fingers are sore from typing those exact words often enough for the last five years.

What will it take for AFLCV to act? My guess is a bunch of clubs getting together, forming a league and disaffiliating from the AFL/AFLCV. The thread of losing the cash from affiliation might wake up HQ ... maybe.

Bendigo footy rumours on Facebook lol

On SM-G970F using BigFooty.com mobile app
Kangaroo Flat Facebook page says they are having a “stakeholder meeting” on Wednesday night to advise of their future plans. Reads to me like decisions may have already been made, and the meeting will be to let everyone know their plans.

Was at the QEO today and listened to klat coach at qtr time mmm leaves a lot to be desired doesnt know how to motivate and has no structure in planning he said nothing to inspire the players so why did they appoint this nuff nuff he has never coached a senior team in his life. Bendigo footy is stufffed why

What has this got to do with Bendigo footy being stuffed?

It was a six-team comp for a fair number of years in the past and it looks destined to return to those days very soon.

The football administrators will be stunned when it comes to fruition. The rest of us won't because it has been years in the making.

No-one is coming into the BFNL anytime soon unless they are forced to, kicking and screaming.

Ballarat and the Goulburn Valley have stable competitions and have little interest in adding the Bendigo-based clubs. Their league threads both ask why should they be lumped with Bendigo's mess.

Ballarat would be keen on Gisborne and potentially Maryborough while GV would have Moama at the top of a very short want list.

I reckon having healthy major and minor leagues and a good working relationship between them all provides for healthy competitions to operate though
Not when the major is given all the leg ups. Population and salary cap. Media coverage, afl clinics etc

Not sure there has been an afl clinic organised by the hub in ncfl for some time
