So what tall forward setup will we go with? I can't see Lynch, Kosi, Ryan and Bauer all playing in the same side. Lynch is a given if fit obviously, Kosi has probably been all but guaranteed a game early on at least.

So will it be Lynch, Ryan & Kosi with Ryan 2nd ruck or will it be Lynch, Kosi & Bauer with Kosi doing some rucking? I'm not sure.

He coached Melbourne always with that extra tall in the side, whether that was a gamestyle structural thing or purely just based on talent we'll soon find out. Right now Kosi & Lynch are the obvious front runners, Ryan 2nd ruck.

It will be interesting. I want to see games pumped into both Ryan and Bauer but that's unlikely unless Lynch or Kosi are out.

If Lynch is fit for r1 and Gibcus is still a query maybe Bauer can play in defence alongside Balta, Young and Broad?

With the Kosi recruitment I think it unfortunately means Ryan starts 2024 in the VFL, which is fine because if he's good enough for AFL he will bang the door down to selection early in the year.

I am fascinated as to our structure and make up, we know the Dimma formation and how the side would be structured but Yze could do something completely different. He might not have defensive wingers or a cluster of pressure forwards, he might play 3 KPFs instead of 2, maybe not 2 rucks, etc.

I think they will go with Lynch, Kozi and Ryan to start the season and see if that works.

Lynch and Kozi will take it in turns staying deep and pushing up the ground. Ryan will rotate with Nank between the forwardline 40%/ruck 40%/bench 20%.

Then it will all be about the quality of smalls they put around them and if they can crumb, pressure and run in waves back towards goal.

Im in two minds about 2024.

I'm excited to see what the team will be like under Yze but I also think by the end of it we are going to struggle.

I'd like to fast forward 12 months and see what the trade period is like, reckon its another fizzer. Perhaps we can trade a few of our 2024 picks for F2025 picks lol

I think we will only use 3 attacking tall options. Nankervis in the ruck majority of the time, with Lynch up forward with both being supported by either Ryan or Koschitzke, I'm not convinced that Koschitzke is a walk up start, I expect there will be a battle through pre-season to see who gets first crack.

With the way Yze has spoken I'm tipping a structure with 3 attacking tall options & 3 tall defenders surrounded by a lot of runners where we can then use speed and foot skills to attack through the corridor. It's going to be exciting to see how it unfolds

Lynch kosi and cumberland
Can’t see what value Cumberland adds. His one good asset was kicking for goal and that turned to shite with his ******* run up. Looks a bust. I do not know why he is supported and chosen by many to be in our best 22. If he’s in our best 22, we are in serious trouble.

He did kick 6 straight late in the vfl season (against Box Hill who made a prelim) including two from 50 on the boundary....and still didnt get the call up tonthe seniors :$. When he's up and about he adds marking ability, pace, goal sense and X factor. He's a confidence player though Dimma and Dimma mkII completely destroyed any confidence he had.

On ability he's easily best 22. Hopefully Yze can harness that ability.

Needs games without Dimmas guillotine constantly hanging above him. Made no sense wed play Pickett forward all year who gave us nothing but the rare chances Cumbo got hed have one quiet game and back to the VFL to kick another 3-6.

Had a game with 8 tackles in it also last year, so he adds pressure as well. I think his problem with Dimma was that Cumberland's natural instinct is to go at the ball, Dimma demanded more awareness of game plan, especially defensive structures hence he was dropped repeatedly. New game plan, new player hopefully.

Not many will agree here but I’m really keen to see D. Rioli return to the small forward role next year, if it doesn’t work out we can always move him back but with a predicted more attacking game style there is no reason Dan can’t be an elite small forward, he just got burnt out in his 3rd-5th year struggling with the focus on defensive pressure. I believe this could also be good for M. Rioli. Baker for mine is better down back and short can go back to his running half back role.

A team out of Dimma's Wet Dream. All the Half backers are in the team.

I'm with you on this. We've got running defenders coming out of our ears and hardly any proven small forwards on the list.

Rioli's form at half back it seems to me, is far better than anything he has shown as a forward. But I think he would make an even better wingman, which is moving forward to a degree.

I agree...and has plenty of space to lairise as well...Brownlow beckons!

It's certainly worth a look. Although I think Baker plays both positions equally just that typically speaking he has been thrown forward when the team has been down, opposed to playing back when we were at our peak.

Banks showed plenty this season and I think he could replicate a lot of what Rioli with ball in hand when streaming out of the back line and depending on how much Tresize and Brown come on over the preseason those two could also be added to our back line. My only concern is back lines take time to gel and it might be too many changes at once.
