Galluci & Poholke had a serious problem on the snow in Adelaide. They would have had their contract extended (christ even david mckay did) but they were causing cultural problems especially for the kids coming in.
Mt Thebarton?

It's a beginner slope

Another Ablett Snr story (not a rumour so much) by Adrian Hickmott, former Geelong/Carlton player, told to a group I was in at a bar, many years ago.

The story went something like they were standing around on Kardinia Park at the start of training. Gary grabbed a footy and pointed to 2 open wheelie bins about 50 metres away outside the fence. He proceeded to kick the ball right-footed and it landed in one of the bins. The boys couldn’t believe it.

Gary said nothing, grabbed another footy and pointed to the bins again, and then proceeded to kick it left-footed, landing it in the other bin.

Also see McAdam, Adrian.

And in 2017 , he played against 22 passengers.
Sick burn nuffy

Daniel Rioli would not get a game if his name was Daniel Smith

My apologies for posting facts, this is the rumours thread...

It was from someone I trust but not sure how true it is: in the incident Carey was convicted of indecent assault in 96/97, the woman involved required reconstructive surgery which the club paid for, and this element of the case was kept under wraps.

That the one where he grab a ladies breasts in a nightclub queue?

Poholke used to do the old "don't you know who I am" all the time in Adelaide. Answer was more often than not, "no?"

Not the thread to debate this but him and Castagna both play the same role, and Castagna doesn’t have a famous last name.

I agree Rioli would be pretty useless in another team (and generally I think they’re both a bit useless) but obviously they get a game for their repeat efforts and ground coverage that fits in with the team game plan. Any goals are a bonus.

But anyway, rumour (actually fact) time.

DeGoey in a a closed shopfront with mates in Kew during first lockdown, middle of the day large amounts of coke being consumed.
ATM across the road, they’re sitting there betting hundreds of dollars at a time on whether the person using the ATM goes left or right after finishing their transaction.

Got a fair bit of cash taken off him apparently!

Not arguing your point bud, as I think Daniel has been gifted games because of his name, but I stand by my comment about who the Tigers played that day. The crows showed up for 30 minutes that day.

Rumour confirmed - the media hype around Rioli jnr wasn’t matched by the clubs. Will be very surprised if he plays a game in 2021. None of the clubs willing to force Richmond to use a higher pick in case they didn’t match it.

Nobody actually believe that rumour about the plover attack did they? Wasn't fit enough to complete the 2km.

I thought essendon bid on him?

Worked at one of the stadiums when I was at uni. Used to let a few of the commentators through to their area sometimes.

Very hard to reconcile their jovial on screen personas with their reactions in person. JB was ok but not exactly smiley.

Tony Leonard was a champ.

That is the case with many people in the media and celebrities.

There is also a bit of snobbishness involved because some people will be less friendly to people not in their group or profession.

Yeah but there were plenty who were legends. Obviously Tony, but also Sticks Kernahan and Glenn Archer as well.

Always followed the rule that if they aren’t nice to customer service staff, they just aren’t good people.

Have it on first hand authority:
  • Whateley is a really nice guy and genuinely friendly
  • Liam Pickering is exactly the way you hear him on Off the Bench, great bloke in real life and interested in what you do
  • Barrett is actually a great bloke. Has a great memory for names even after a very short meeting and is very supportive of younger journalists making their way up in the business. By all reports, genuine bloke that is one of the friendliest in the business
  • Cooney, the way he sounds on the radio. Pretty nonchalant
  • Andy Maher, really nice guy, very talkative
Surprised about Barrett but was told this from a very reliable source, sometimes you can't judge a book etc etc

Sorry, but telling us how blokes are pretty decent goes against every principle of this thread.

Have met and spoken to all these guys and can confirm good blokes
Had a chat with pickers before draft when we picked Gibbs and he told me Carlton had him picked early on but Selwood was going to be the best of the lot
Bobby skilton is a true gentleman and champion footballer
