I think it's because the story is actually quite believable given the Stephenson thing, Beams' issues and the club's comments around gambling.

Probably why this rumour is gaining so much traction.

What if all the ‘injuries’ Collingwood have aren’t really injuries but low key suspensions.

If this is true & got out it would be massive for the AFL. So much of their revenue comes from betting agencies through advertisements with the league and also with the broadcasters.

Would not surprise me in the slightest if this was being sorted out behind closed doors.
