I'm starting to think that Nisbett's press conference was perhaps a little unnecessary. It just allowed the media to add more fuel to the fire since it looked like a desperate attempt to defend Gaff and somewhat club culture. Perhaps they could've let the tribunal run it's course and only make a full statement/presser afterwards.
Reports don't necessarily require a press conference from the CEO, although this is possibly one of the worst that one of our players have been hit with. It's purely a player issue imo, not a club issue. Gaff acted alone.
We could still have supported Gaff and offer sympathy to Brayshaw through a club statement or something. Then again without a presser, we still might have been slammed for staying "silent". Guess you're damned if you do and damned if you dont...

I agree. Why have it at all. Just put out a carefully worded statement saying the process is in place and that's it. Give the media nothing. That's what i loved about Worsfold. Every answer gave nothing to the media. Stop engaging these twats with anything other than a scripted nothing line. They are scum bags. It's even worse outside the sports arena. They all have agendas and objective reporting isn't anywhere near the top of that list.

The problem with Nizzy is that he is far too focused on his and the clubs reputation that at any opportunity he just wants to virtue signal to anyone that will listen. Club should have just issued a one line written statement saying that its in the hands of the tribunal then deflect all questions. Now we have given the media some rope in which to hang the entire club and smear the fans as being complicit and disgusting without any facts.

If you’re in Leederville on Oxford street this week and spot Basil at one of the cafes give the flog a piece of your mind. The twat always makes his way down there mid morning after radio gig. I’d be tempted to pour a glass of water over the tossers head if I see him.

Ask him about his role in the West Perth financial mess and if he feels even slightly embarrassed or guilty.

They would have attacked the club for not putting anyone up for comment. There is a lot of payback from journos going on. Happens every now and then, they smell blood so go hard because they didnt get an exclusive they were after.

Nisbett had to do it and was always going to be diving on a grenade. Most agencies sent political reporters as well as sports reporters. Yeo was interviewed straight after so Nisbett went up first to take the heat out of the pack.

Except the bit about having his lips sewn together! I have been an operating nurse for 20 plus years and never seen anyone’s lips sewn together. Would seem a pretty dangerous thing to do.
I missed that bit, but I don't think it really matters in the scheme of things when (from what I understand) his jaw will be wired shut.

Ironic given Pav started going the snipe later in his career in derbies, picked up a few suspensions after playing us

Some Freo supporting family and I nicknamed him "No F*cks Pav" in those twilight years as he truly did not give a shit. His talent waned and thus his propensity to get physical and try to reduce others to his level increased.

Also if you see Tom Percy enquire about his duties on the board of East Perth. Ask how he felt when the East Perth captain broke the jaw of a 19 year old Brad Sheppard in 2010. One of the biggest thugs the WAFL has had in the last 20 years and he was on the board that chose him to captain his club.

I bet his reply would be that’s in a different era. A lot of people use that as an excuse.

ok everyone, new plan - now we have to be outraged because Andrew Gaff was whisked away by police / feds upon arrival into Melbourne

...and go!

Terry Wallace was saying he should leave WA due to safety fears, next day complaints about Gaff having a police escort due to safety concerns.

*sigh*
