Ashes are awesome but gee English crowds are flipping dry and the commentary even though it’s nine, is drier than usual

Not as bad a start as it appeared that it might be earlier in the secession.

Poms bat deep so plenty of work still to do, but reasonably good start. :thumbsu:

To be expected when you have Athers and Ponting on, two together, both of who have personality bi-passes before they enter the commentary box.

Lost some good callers of late for various reasons: Bumble, Nicholas, the deep voice of Holding and Warne all who were much more exciting and engaging to listen to.

Sky Sports had Mel Jones on at lunch.
She was embarrassing.

First time watching England play Bazball for me

Creates the illusion that England are doing better than they actually are simply because the runs come fast

So can the wickets

Will this pitch get better or worse to bat on?

What's a par score?

The pre-game commentary was focusing on how good the pitch looked to bat on. Would be expecting some big scores.

at 5/187 England aren't tracking too well. Should be getting 400+ batting first on this deck surely.

P.S. With all the talk of baz-ball, how good to see Hazelwood turn the game with a masterclass in line and length bowling. A maiden followed up with getting Stokes with a fairly stock delivery (albeit perhaps moving away a little).

Momentum can shift quickly with this type of batting

From 5-176 and in the back foot they’ve gone to 5-261 in the space of 16 overs and threatening to break the game open

Bowling attack has to be on all the time as there’s no margin for error, in this pitch especially
