Bad toss to lose. Suspect we'll go down 3-1 with a single draw. imo
There he is.
Wondering where the old EP2018 had got to.
I prefer you when you are pessimistic, the results usually go against you.
Some blame the song, some blame Nizzy, some blame Simmo for our downfall. I blame you with your optimistic outlook.
Keep it there please mate.

My young fella just saw Bairstow take his helmet off and asked if Stokes was going to bowl him.

Got to say, the possibility was there.

This ‘Baz-ball’ stuff irritates me. It’s nothing new.
Greenidge and Haynes did it for West Indies with Clive Viv and Ritchie et al to follow.
Hayden and Langer made a big point of attacking and even intimidating batting to set up a powerful upper middle order.
It is relatively high risk if there are early wickets but rapidly mounting runs removes slips and changes fields and bowlers lines.
But good innervation and suits their team, and we changed what we do because of it.

Pleased to wake up to Uzzies unbeaten 100.

Hopefully we can get a little lead and then go from there.

Good test this

I beg to differ.
It is new.

England have been regularly getting 150 per session and over 400 a day in their last 12 or 13 tests.
Over 4 an over last year and this year it's over 5.

You just have to look at this test.
Over 5 an over in the first innings compared to our 3.

Time will tell to see if it continues but I reckon it's great for test cricket.

I now see why Stokes' captaincy is raved about. Some of the field settings and bowling changes he made at certain times were spot on. To Australia's credit, (with a little help from Uzzie's brilliance) they worked through it to keep the game on an even keel.

I still don't get Ollie Robinson as a Test cricketer though. Not sure what he offers on a bone dry pitch. It verged on farcical that he was used as the enforcer and tried to bounce out Travis Head. If that's your gameplan against Head, then you need to get Mark Wood into the side.

Funny ol' game cricket, looked like we were in a deep hole at one stage and Kawaga did a massive job. Three of the world's best batsmen out cheaply, #1 out for a friggin' duck!
Carey was good. Watched on TV, till midnight, then kept listening on radio earplug, couldn't give it up!? Was worth it in the end...

Mark Wood is perma injured lately. It's a shame because he's such an X-factor in that attack.

Also, do England genuinely have no decent spinners running around county cricket and it's so bad they had to call Moeen out of test retirement?

Nailed it. Though it doesn't irritate me, it is nothing new. Also great to watch. Positive cricket from England, the declaration was superb. We would have looked to bat as long as we could .

"Nothing new"?

Tell me the last time a side averages over 5 an over in test cricket over a prolonged period.
