Bazball is far more than run rate. (Although no side has gone at over 5 an over before, consistently). It's also about field placements, bowling changes, declarations, setting up the game in ultra-aggressive fashion. Nobody has ever done it quite like this. Great to watch.
I like all of that Dazzler...'Bazball' term annoys me a bit, I have to admit, credit where is due.Bazball is far more than run rate. An extra run an over isn't minor. What question ? A slightly higher run average ? Australia done it in the Hayden / Gilly etc etc era. The Poms, have extrapolated on that. Good for them.
I spent way, way more time looking at this than I really should've...very good
Agree, it is exciting and like I said, good on them. But the concept has been there for years. An extra run an over isn't minor.
The odd game Australia might've put their foot down, but nothing like this. Australia tried to make 600 and then bowl out sides with Warne and McGrath.
When was the last time a side made 400 on day 1 and declared to have a bowl?
There's positive cricket as you call it and then this.
Yes.Bazball is essentially a disruptive strategy typical across many fields in the 21st century. It challenges the status quo of test cricket as it’s been played for the last 140 odd years. It’s a new way of playing that leverages off white ball cricket’s bat friendly environments.
I don’t know how sustainable it is as oppositions will adjust their play to combat it. Bazball needs the team to score fast and big. They also need an attack that can dismantle the opposition batting. India will be a good test of it.

Also yes.I like all of that Dazzler...'Bazball' term annoys me a bit, I have to admit, credit where is due.
Exciting cricket, Tests my favourite, always good.
Think Into Black has a bit of a point in that the 'Calypso Kings' were so exciting back in the day... Aus fans seemed to be almost happy/not devastaded when we got beaten even. Just fantastic cricket.
So, all for Bazball, except I do hate slow, doctored pitches, to suit that style....swing/seam bowlers playing in England was like seeing art.
Not as exciting as a bouncing, quick WACA pitch when the Windies were hooking everything outta the ground, or Terry Alderman with swing/subtle changes in his bowling in Eng.Agree, it is exciting and like I said, good on them. But the concept has been there for years.
He's like having two gullies, with the ground that he covers. Can take it high, wide or low.Even if he has a run of bad form with bat and ball you'd just about pick Green as a specialist fielder.
Not defending knobson, but heat of the moment stuff, we've done similar before in a ashes series.I can just imagine the outcry about the "Ugly Aussies" if one of ours had said the same thing to Joe Root.
‘F***ing prick’: Pom DEFENDS Khawaja spray as Ashes theatre
Controversial England quick Ollie Robinson has attracted attention for an expletive-laden send off of Australian opener Usman Khawaja — but he doesn't see the problem.www.perthnow.com.au
I don't mind stuff like that. Not defending knobson, but heat of the moment stuff, we've done similar before in a ashes series.
Fair enough, anyway the guys a proven racist/sexist POS sh!t and hopefully cops some bodyline if he comes out to bat.I don't mind stuff like that.
It's the hypocrisy that annoys me.
I'm telling you, if we did that, the media would be all over us.
Especially the Aussie media.
Fair enough, anyway the guys a proven racist/sexiest POS sh!t and hopefully cops some bodyline of he comes out to bat.
The abuse is just so disappointingly basic. No art to it at all. That send off just shows their bravado is surface level stuff. Uzzie was taking the match away from them which I don't think they expected to happen after getting Warner, Smith, Lab out cheaply and Head gone for a half ton.
Pressure valve was released when they finally got their man, so in some ways it's a sign of threat and respect I reckon.
