Does anyone know why no one wanted to take up Brisbane's offer of Rockliff last year? Besides the fact they obviously would have had to have traded for him as opposed to picking him up for free this year - how come no one took it up? I'd like to know why Brisbane offered him up in the first place. Does he come with baggage like Stringer? Or was it a mutual agreement between club and player with Rockliff's best interests at heart?

In terms of midfield options if we're going to go after another midfielder this year then it would be smarter to aim for either Gaff or Kennedy IMO.

From what I understand, he was on a sizeable contract of around 2mil for 3years, so not many clubs were keen on absorbing $650k-$700K a year without Brisbane paying some of it. Also being a free agent this year, means you can get him without trading anything.

Also 2016 wasn't a great year off field from all reports, so there were some serious questions about his leadership etc. But he seems to have addressed this under Fagan.

Managers dont often out themselves as liars do they?

They are happy to obfuscate but its rare they just flat out lie.
His manager will just put a spin on it saying 'after spending a bit of time with family & friends, Josh has decided he'd like a trade back to Vic'

Makes it sound like he's not lying, even though he's lying to cover up his 1st lie.
That's if Josh does actually request a trade.

Geelong apparently the front runner for stringer now, fair dinkum were are they getting the money to pay for these blokes? If ablett goes there as well the footy public will bay for blood i rekon. They have had an armchair ride in the media for a long time. Hellbent on never bottoming out by the sounds of it.

Agree - certainly the destination club - that's what we were once upon a time and looks like we have lost that mantle

In order to be the destination club, that club needs to want that player.

Stringer is a massive question mark.
