Dogs need a key defender and if trengrove stays at Port could a frawley for stringer swap be a possibility?

Stuff that we need Chippa
I'm a big frawley fan but brand did good without him this year plus if somehow hawks land lever (once he nominates us for next year first and second round pick) then frawley leaving could be a good option for both him and the club.

If Bevo has any respect for Clarko's he will be well and truly advising him why the dogs are parting ways with the youngster.
He is a huge risk, huge reward trade. Holds more doom as all his
footy problems are an extension of his personal life.
Being young and bullet proof means he ain't listening to the people he
are trying to help him.

i think we have enough risk with jaeger....cant really afford to go for another risky player, albeit a very different kind of risk

would much rather land a Lever type, or a reliable young midfielder....

If you look at the midfields remaining in the finals:

1. Adelaide: Crouch brothers, Sloane = 3 guns
2. GWS: Kelly, Shiel, Ward, = 3 guns
3. Richmond: Cotchin, Martin, Prestia = 3 guns
4. Sydney: Kennedy, Heeney, Parker = 2.5 guns
5. Geelong: Dangerfield, Selwood, Duncan = 2.5 guns
6. West Coast: Priddis, Mitchell, Shuey = 2.1 guns

13. Hawthorn: Mitchell, O'Meara, Shiels = 1 gun, 1 potential and 1 foot soldier.

I know my analysis isn't very scientific and I've probably missed a LOT of key players - but for me the biggest difference between the top 6 and the rest of the league is the number of A grade midfielders. Port and Essendon just couldn't get near the rest of the 8 in terms of midfield star power.

So we need another gun. Fyfe, Martin or Kelly would have pushed us straight up the ladder with Mitchell/O'Meara by their sides. Rockliff will get us into the top 6 if he comes along - make no misteak.

So beyond getting Rockliff we need to boost up that second tier that rolls through. If we can find a Langford upgrade (Lovell?) or a Puopolo upgrade that has the tank to go through the midfield then we'll bat a lot deeper and be a much better side.

So, poppy gives a two minute catch up on Hawk TV talking like a leader about the great future we have with all the youngsters coming through and expecting finals footy next year!!
Sounds very much at ease and at home at the hawks imo. Hopefully it remains that way, because I truly think that if GW and AC really want Kennedy Then it can be worked out without poppy's involvement.

Gws have coniglio and kelly, 2 more guns

Then hopper/kennedy/griffin not too far away

If we need another gun midfielder as LP says then we need to recruit Gaff or Rockliffe. Both are recognised guns.
I would prefer Gaff because he is younger.
I would also like to add Kennedy as a potential gun.

You can nave too many gun mid fielders. Sydney had players who couldn't get into their elite mid field group. That's how we got Mitchell.
That's the GWS problem- too many chiefs.
Carlton were supposed to have the best midfield ever with Judd, Murphy, Gibbs but it was only when ratten had Gibbs playing defensively that they became a force. Don't think Bolton has that group gelling properly yet.

This is where guys like Shiels are so important in a premiership tilt. They excel at the defensive stuff. Has struggled with less offensive talent around him, but still dominates pressure acts or whatever ridiculous stat that is.

Geelong have Duncan and Richmond have Prestia as highly capable guys that take pressure off the top top end. We probably need this.

One more a grader and an upgrade on Langford and we'll be a different team

Stringer had 1 great season.
The fact he wants out. He has a bad reputation as a team player and his work ethic at training.

He is worth 1 pick. Barret is close to the mark.
Then again your worth as much as someone will pay, if 3 teams are after his service his value will drive up.
Stringer has essentially been sacked by the Bulldogs. 23 year old who was awesome in 2015 and has been playing on reputation ever since. Only just made it into the Dogs team for the finals last year. I think we should let the Bombers or Cats take this bloke and we should quietly try and get Matt Kennedy this year which will have meant we have reset our inside midfield in 12 months and then we can start chasing a Key forward either via next years draft or trade

To be honest I don't care who or what we target/get so long as we don't give up our 1st pick in 2018 - in fact I am not opposed to trading to get a further 1st rounder next year. Hodge, Mitchell, Rioli, Roughead and Buddy were brought into the club as kids - I see that trading to get Tom Mitchell and O'Meara was a good thing but we have a great crop of kids right now who have been in the system for a year or two - if we go back to the draft in 2018 we can get the next tier who will be starting off while the Burton's Hardwick's Sicily's Glass's O'Brien's and Morrison's of this world have 30 - 50 games under their belt and we still have triple premiership players around.

Schache has already packed up and shipped out of town according to his roomies. Won't be back. Will be traded to a Vic club.

This was disputed by his manager though. Granted this could all be smoke and mirrors.

He packed a couple of bags of clothes and went back to Melbourne for 2 months.

Wouldn't be so sure, Schache is incredibly close with friends and family down this way.

Does anyone know why no one wanted to take up Brisbane's offer of Rockliff last year? Besides the fact they obviously would have had to have traded for him as opposed to picking him up for free this year - how come no one took it up? I'd like to know why Brisbane offered him up in the first place. Does he come with baggage like Stringer? Or was it a mutual agreement between club and player with Rockliff's best interests at heart?

In terms of midfield options if we're going to go after another midfielder this year then it would be smarter to aim for either Gaff or Kennedy IMO.
