Bad news about Walshy, hope he takes his time.

I thought he "firming" though?

Goes to show the people who speak in absolutes shouldn't really do so..

I don't doubt that most of the ITKs on our board get genuine intel from inside of the club. But unless your source is Russell or Walsh (with regards to his injury) it's no guarantee to be 100% accurate. Still appreciate people passing on what they hear.

We probably need to not be so hard on posters that post negative news though. There is a bit of a disparity in how those posters are treated vs those that tell us what we would prefer to hear.

No issue with what people post, but rather how they do it.

Certain posters talk about what they think they know or what they've been told as though it is fact, when in retrospect in situations like this they turn out to be 100% false on multiple accounts.

Just take a look through the thread to see. It's condescending at best.

Geelong's injury list stands at 1. And they touched us up a week ago. It could be worth a conversation if people were capable of it.
Most cats supporters told us that major injuries to their key players (Cameron, Guthrie, Duncan et all) smashed their chances of playing finals last year.

Are we just cherry picking a team with the fewest injuries just at the moment to make a point?

Maybe they are making the point that your first sentence makes. Geelong got key injuries to key players that floundered their season. We have injuries to key plyers in Weitering, Walsh, Marchbank, JSoS et al.

Port the year before got injuries to key players that floundered their season too. It's not a long bow to draw.

Absolutely, some posters go way over the top with putting a positive spin on things and you can tell they are just making things up and have no genuine inside info and others go way to negative and you can tell they are just trolling.

The Sam Walsh injury is the perfect example some posters saying he’s not injured at all then others saying he is out for the first half of the season.

I enjoy reading both the negative and positive sides and if you look closely enough it’s reasonably easy to see which posters are full of crap without the need to shut posters down.

Cause no-one has conversations about it. No-one at the club, no-one in the stands, down the pub, at the cafes, or in our injury discussion thread. No-one talks about our injury list.

Depends on your definition of conversation. If someone mentions something slightly negative related to the club the same gang of 4 or 5 people immediately post a string of ridiculing posts. Not much back and forth. It's great that people are so positive and love the club so much but it's worth keeping in mind that this is an online discussion forum next time you want to post the usual shut-down posts:

It's only preseason
The negativity from some is amazing

We’ll be ok.
There’s every chance we could see mots back for tiges.
It then looks like both marchy and weiters back for north, with an outside chance of Walsh and Martin as well!
We’ve still got the team I believe, in which can beat the lions and should beat tigers.
Turn 1-1 at the bye would be a fair result when u now factor in our injury toll atm.
But, I’m not giving up on nailing the lions at all.

This is 100% true. They did have a shocker last year during the season - which I wouldn't be surprised if it happens again this year given their plus 30 cohort is sizeable.

I've been mentioning the preseason in isolation. In-season the guys are going flat out and injuries happen. I was hoping after the poor injury list at the end of last preseason we'd sacrifice a bit of intensity and place a priority on getting to the first game with a fully fit list (as I'm on the record as saying this is how Geelong approach it).

I am definitely not cherry-picking one team at random.

The negativity you say

This time last year, according to some, there was supposedly 14 players out injured

Right at the moment 7

You don't see an improvement?

Unavailable:

Zac Williams
Jacob Weitering
Caleb Marchbank
Jack Martin
Corey Durdin
Matt Owies
Jesse Motlop
Sam Walsh
Alex Mirkov
Jack Silvagni
* Elijah Hollands

It's not a great result heading into the season can we agree on that?

I just hope we learn from it this time around and next year place and absolute premium on getting to the start line with as close to a full list as possible. By all reports (including David King) we were going flat out in January with the most intense sessions he'd ever seen in preseason.

Then we get to March and sit around pondering our terrible luck that there's already 10+ on the sidelines again.
