tbh, it's not so much 'shit' as it is stating the bleeding obvious. If therapy/modified training program/whatever isn't working, and the back issues aren't coming good, then he probably does go under the knife again. Surgery is almost always the last option with back injuries, but it is an option. And if that happens, then yes, he'll miss most, if not all of the 2024 season. I'm trusting the medical staff are doing what is best for Sam, and for his long-term recovery.

Ever conceal anything from your workmates and employer, thinking you could stumble through a certain situation, only to put your hand up later as that situation deteriorated?
Absolutely I have, however I’m not one of the leaders on field or off field of one of the top 3 or 4 sporting teams in the country in a game where the margins of winning and losing are so close.

This is the elite competition in the country where players and some high performance staff get paid extremely well to do their jobs, The evidence shows over the last few years it’s an area we definitely need to improve if we want to match the best teams in the competition.

There would still be senior people in high end organisations where similar circumstances have occurred

While we would all prefer these situations not to occur, it's always about how you rectify and prevent this becoming habitually poor moving forward

Anyone that believes all areas of an organisation like ours, isn't being assess periodically, is misguided

how much does this bloke have left to give? if as suggested he has another lti, this may be a bridge too far for him - have loved him and been gutted for him majorly on at least 4 separate occasions throughout his career - he's the lifeblood of the club but I would completely understand if he considered hanging them up - I doubt he will, being such an amazingly courageous club-man but I would get it if he did..........
