There’s a simple reason. Our injury performance has been abysmal for a long time. Worst than most others. If our performance was the same as others then the standard of update could be the same.

But it’s not and so the expected threshold is higher. A bit like if you kept being at the bottom of the ladder the fans would expect more transparency.

If I was a West Coast supporter I would be very keen to get very comprehensive updates. As a Lions supporter I wouldn’t care at all.

That you don’t want the update is fine and up to you. But many others do.

Never said I don't want updates, I just don't feel the need for weekly copy and paste when nothing has changed

No club, none, Nada, do weekly updates on all their injured players

Just think about why, that's the case

Weighted calf raises for prevention.

If you have sore/tight calves, dry needling works wonders.

Strange how you are in a discussion thread about injuries and you think it is weird that people would want information, to discuss them.
Weekly injury updates have been provided for year's by many clubs. If you don't like to know that detail, fine, it's weird that you are in here, but fine. You don't really need to pot posters who do want more transparency and detail in this area.
I'm with you, I would personally like a little more transparency. Ducks for cover!

Since when was Owies 3-4 weeks? He's already missed 2 weeks and it was said to be minor at the time...

To be fair on the club (this time), I think the initial phrasing they used was 'Owies will miss this week, and need to be assessed to determine a timeline for his return...'. That does indicate it was more than minor (ie: 'he is definitely missing this week, and we have no idea how long he is out but it'll be a while...'), but I also see how it could be misconstrued (ie 'he's out this week and we'll see how he goes next week'

Pity for Owies - he was in career best form. The only previous time he had kicked 6 goals in 3 matches was in his second, third and fourth games (and he got 3 vs Essendon in his second match and I reckon they were all lucky/free kicks). And it was only quarter time in this one- he actually looked set to kick a real bag.

Boyd, Docherty, McGovern, Saad, Williams

All provide run and generally good disposal from the back half. A strength is becoming a weakness if they all miss sequentially

Conversely, if all 5 play, that gives us the option of putting Doc in the middle for bursts. Let’s hope 4 of the boys are back pronto

It’s ok, Stocker is in good form off half back. He’ll be playing Sunday …

So no Saad and more than likely no McGovern, Pittonet will play Boyd hopefully back and through the reserves Cottrell Martin Cunners Marchbank possibly next week back through the reserves…

Looks like
Pittonet plays
Kemp Binns Dow Cincotta my Ins…

They said rd 8 which is another 3 weeks, so 3-4 is in the wheelhouse
Owies must have had a tear in his hammy. They usually take 4 weeks rehab, hence the club's round 8 predicted return. With with the emphasis on speed and run now, maybe it puts too much strain on hamstrings and calves. Just another injury prone player who needs to get a good run of games without injuring himself.

How disappointing with Cunners, Martin & Marchbank. We all know the natural ability they have but **** there bodies wont hold up. Calf soreness - 6 weeks & back into skills work wtf its Round 6 now... so looking like Round 10ish .. maybe !!!

Welcome to the seniors, Alex Cincotta. Absolutely no reason to leave him in the ressies now. Would have to think Boyd, while flagged as available for selection, will return through the VFL. Let Boyd build a little touch and form over the next fortnight with a view to replacing Cowan after the WC game. Cowan goes back to the VFL and bides his time for the next injury opening.

Also sounds like Gov is unlikely. Aim to return to full training on Friday and a test for Sunday? For a lot of players that would probably be "yep, he'll be OK" but for Gov I think that it's probably another week off. Similar with Saad - 1-2 weeks = 2 weeks for a guy like him (important and a little prone to soft tissue stuff).

R6 - No returns from injury, Cincotta and Kemp to play the Saad and Gov roles. Pitto OK to play.
R7 - Gov back in for Kemp, Cottrell return through VFL.
R8 - Saad and Boyd in for Cincotta and Cowan. Cottrell potential inclusion up forward. Owies return through VFL.
R9 - Marchbank, Martin and Cunners potentially available for selection after recovery and a couple of VFL games, ignorantly assuming no new setbacks.
R10-12 - Doc to return somewhere around here.

By the time DOC returns hopefully we're looking like:

Boyd, Weitering, Young
Newman, Gov, Saad
Acres, Cripps, Hollands
Pitto, Cerra, Walsh
Cottrell, Curnow, Owies
Motlop, Mackay, Durdin
I/C: Doc, Kennedy, Hewett, TDK
Sub: Fisher/JSOS (interchangable depending on matchups)

No chance, injury gods won’t allow it.

It’s lucky we subbed Gov in the last quarter of the North game as a precaution.

Remember Voss’ presser...”no, no he’s fine”….If hadn’t he would have missed the next couple games.
