look at the stats of our midfield and you just gave yourself up as a goose....the numbers suggest they are right up there....
No need for that at all.

I didn't want any of them, TBH, except, perhaps, Saad at the right price. We need to be bringing in youngsters at bargain prices for this year's trade period and the next.Lot of retrospective nonsense going on to downplay the contributions that Smith, Saad and Rockliff could have made to our club. It's hardly being chicken little to say that our club made a pitch at all three and failed. That's a bad outcome.
Having said that, SOS would have 10 trades in play leading into this period, and will have other plans (like Kennedy). But let's not go around deluding ourselves that we have somehow been saved from a guy with bad knees, another with poor disposal and one bad hombre.
Adelaide making a big play at Motlop so maybe they have lost interest in Gibbs.....
Motlop isn't going to help Adelaide's flakiness on the big day. But he will make them a better team when they are already a few goals up.Adelaide making a big play at Motlop so maybe they have lost interest in Gibbs.....

That system only works if you are a successful club, we are some way from there yet and paying overs may very well be the only way we can get there.
The trick is to find the right player to throw the big bucks at and the timing of said throw. Thomas proved to be the wrong one at the wrong time and Rockliff may well have been placed in the same category by SOS but I don't see a 28yo who can play as a quick fix.

The one that may Whisper is suggesting Suns are going to want a player for Saad, perhaps Colyer? Surely if its a straight swap, Essendon will jump all over that?
This is Carlton related how.
Pass. Ah Chee would be a better option.
Wants to go west apparently from what I have read.
Ah Chee’s manager Anthony Van Der Wielen confirmed a move home was one option for the midfielder, but said he was still open to go anywhere in search of more game time.

Hope SOS was waving his magic wand pretending to show interest in those players just to bump their prices up so essendrugs pay top $. Love your SOS .
I really don't think scenarios like this are in any way plausible. I'm sure our list manager has more important things to do than feign interest in players so other clubs have to pay more for them.
Doesn't seem a whole lot is being said about Daniel Menzel, though Freo may be interested in him or he may just remain at the Cats?
Though we may not take anyone as a Free Agent now, given we missed out on Rockliff.
Perhaps we'd consider Zac Clarke if we want a Ruck on the cheap, though his knees seem rather stuffed?
I can’t be ****** reading back 30 pages, did Happydude expand on his comments or is still hanging in the wind?
Depends on the pitch made to each player though. I highly doubt the offers were huge. I suspect we offered what we thought they were worth. So its not really a failure if other team are willing to pay through the teeth.Lot of retrospective nonsense going on to downplay the contributions that Smith, Saad and Rockliff could have made to our club. Disagree, he is the Fijian heritage guy that started 2016 on fire. Polled 3 votes in the Brownlow for his 1st 3 games of 2016 then in the next game was dropped by Rocket Eade. Apparently because in those games where he was getting BOG every week he wasn't following the team plan. The rub on him seems to be that he only runs 1 way, downhill skier, likes the flashy stuff on the outside but not keen to get his hands dirty. That said, polling 3 votes for 3 weeks in a row as an unheard of kid is no small achievement. Since then most of the noise has been about him improving his defensive game in the '2's. If i was him I would be wanting to build on my good form from last season not watch my career evaporate in the GC reserves. If SOS and co think they can turn him around on the cheap I am all for it. Clearly he can play, maybe we can sit him on the outside of Kennedy and Cripps
But do players/managers have more important things to do than feign interest in clubs, so other clubs have to pay more for them?
You're thinking of Aaron Hall, not Matt Shaw.
That makes far more sense than Matt Shaw being of Fijian heritage.
