Austin goes bang. Love the bold move. Personally I’m taking both 12 and 14 to the draft but we’ve also just heaped a lot of pressure on Collingwood to pay full freight for Houston. We seem comfortable enough that we’ll still be able to match Campo bids too.

Unless we intend to hand over 12 + 14 to Port for Houston (and I can’t see that happening in a gazillion years l), I can’t see this move making any difference to the DH sitch. Pies are struggling to get the deal done because they don’t have enough to offer and Port, to this point, are playing hard ball.

14 would be the best offer Port have received for Houston (other than North's) given Collingwood don't yet have 13. So it could definitely still open that trade.

Everyone will have a preference. I'd prefer we keep 12 and 14 and not get Houston - not that Houston wouldn't be a great get (very good user of the ball). Still more to play out, though, is my guess. And loving Austin's style. Negotiations aren't done with media pressure. Smooth operator...

Austin has been clear from the start that he likes this draft. IMO we are taking 12 and 14 to the draft. But it also gives us options if we choose. Hopefully trade gets done first Kennedy and owies and then try get back a 2nd rd pick this year.

You would think. Kennedy in particular is a puzzling one on lack of interest. We know he can boss it in the midfield given a chance. He's also quite versatile, can take a mark, good shot at goal.

Only issues are the KMs he can run and pace really.

Don't forget our late picks will come up a bit after picks are consumed by bids. For example, Lions will use 32, 42, 43 & 45 on bids so that alone will bring our 68 -> 64

Whatever spills might put us in a bit of a deficit next year, so that Lions F2 could drop back a couple spots.

I believe they were messing the Hawks around saying 14 alone wasn't enough for Barrass. Tbh I would have taken that and ran for him.

I really like this move. The way i see it we take at minimum 12 in the draft, whilst creating so many POSSIBLE options over the remainder of the period:

1. Do nothing and take 14 to the draft
2. Trade 14 for Barrass (if we are being cheeky... but fills a need!)
3. Trade 14 back for 2 first round picks this year (Multiple options of GWS, Syd, Rich)
4. Trade 14 back for 1 first round picks this year and 1 next year (Possible options of GWS, Syd, Freo depending on their desperation)
5. Trade 14 for Houston (may need to use option 4 above to make this happen or otherwise include extra collateral like a player)
