Yeah but their fans are next level. They act like they should still get 3 first rounders.
Blind Freddy could see that was going to happen, Hardwick & Dusty may not be favourite sons anymore.

Wasn't Dusty a Free Agent anyway? What have Richmond got to complain about? Or will they now miss out on FA compo?
Just loyalty i suppose but it's great viewing.

Wrong

He was an UFA, he could of gone anywhere he wanted, still can
Redman is correct IF Martin actually went through the retirement process (unlikely).

17. Free Agency
17.1 Free Agents

(c) A Player who elects to retire or has lodged a ‘Player Request for Removal from a List’ form in the form prescribed in Schedule 1 as Form 40, will not be a Free Agent under Rule 17.1(b) in the relevant year.

He would have been an Unrestricted Free Agent (UFA) if he had not been removed already from Richmond's list. However, he has been delisted.

It's possible that Martin/Dimma/GCS have been playing funny buggers here and counting on Richmond to delist without Martin to go through the official retirement lodgement. This way, they could avoid having to pick him up as a UFA and possibly miss out on compensation for any of their own players who go elsewhere as a RFA/UFA. Or it might genuinely be a change of mind. In any case, they can now pick him up as a Delisted Free Agent without any compensation to Richmond.

Plenty of players that retired and suited up the following year

Compensation would depend on contract, and he could still come under free agency rules
First part, yes, of course. But I'd doubt he's going up there for peanuts. You'd think if it was as a UFA, he'd trigger at least a third round pick, possibly higher.

For the second part, I don't think that's correct. He's a delisted free agent. Richmond will not get compensation.
