Chad Ochocinco only ate McDonald's on game day....

Ablett snr was a hardcore user...
DK Metcalf eats packets and packets of sour patch kids every day.

That's more about how explosive their calorie consumption is than being able to perform while having a few drinks, but still it's a great point that there are lots of different ways to skin a cat.

Gotta give Fox Sports credit for knowing their audience.

Jack Martin was a $1m bust when we delisted him.

He's now 'super talented but injury cruelled' that Geelong are linked.

Re: Mitch McGovern. Firstly, positional changes rarely get determined two weeks after the season ends and secondly, he’s already proven to be a failure in that role.
Oh, and Dan Gorringe, scraping the bottom of the deepest barrel.

In fairness, he "failed" playing as a forward in a team that was, let's be completely honest, absolutely shite. At that time, Mitch also had a bit of a reputation for not taking his fitness as seriously as he should (to put it mildly (hence the nickname Brackets (see what I did by putting this whole thing in brackets? (No? (Okay, nevermind)))).

I think he would do much better within our current team as a third tall that has license to roam up the ground. He is the person I most want to be kicking inside 50 and despite what happened against the Pies, he's still one of the players on our list I trust the most from a set shot.

Mitch is one of the few who has the balls and the ability to hit a 50m pass into a dangerous spot opening up play.
Would be awesome to have him CHF leading, taking marks & hitting up leads to our forwards but u need a serious tank to do that & no way his hammies hold up for a season.

Fit Mitch makes us better overal & is key to being more attacking from the back line, but he’s not turning into Richo with a good preseason

Id like to see him play a role similar to Jeremy Cameron where he gets free rein to go everywhere but starts at CHF.

Agree we’re crying for out fit and agile footballers with good footy IQ , able to deliver the ball precisely with penetration. Dan Houston would be ideal.

Dan Gorringe is like James Rees. Dan’s footy career made adults laugh out loud like James Rees made kids laugh out loud on Giggle and Hoot, but now they are both annoying as **** on social media.

hes also one of the few players we have who dont mind having a shot from outside 50m instead of overpossessing and missing a short pass inside 50 or just bombing it on our forwards head in an out number.

Lets be serious you aren't moving mitch predominantly up forward because we got haynes coming in. If we were to somehow pull SDK out of the cats the move would make more sense, then haynes is just depth

For those saying Gov failed forward.. how many games did he play alongside both Harry and Charlie? My recollection is that he mainly played with one of those guys missing and got the 2nd best defender. Still believe he’s more a forward than defender. He has zero natural defensive skill (like most of our defenders). He has a beautiful kick though which is the only reason he was moved behind the ball.

I’ve said this previously but one of our big issues is that most of our defenders aren’t natural defenders. They’ve been cobbled together out of necessity.
Gov - no defensive skill.
Saad - very solid one-on-one defender but loses his attacking flair which is his best asset. Wasted down back when asked to be too defensive.
Newman - Can make the argument he’s a natural defender and good decision maker but does get outbodied badly at times.
Cowan - tough, has defensive instincts but is prone to not lowering the eyes and blind hack kicking. Might be a mid long term.
Boyd - I’d prefer him forward

Houston in would mean that if he cops the tag, then Saad can use his run and carry more. Would also instantly help our attacking play off half back and improve our ball retention. If we pick up a couple of defenders I can see Gov going forward.

He was a.complete non factor.

The reason the move to defense salvaged his career is that it introduced accountability into his game. He lacks concentration and motivation...just does. Defense keeps him engaged, mostly, and suits his strengths.

Remember we were pretty weak back then so our delivery wasn’t great. That combined with the fact he was getting a bad matchup with Harry/Charlie out. He’s actually one of our better tacklers so he can help with trapping it inside 50. He’s also one of only a few on our team capable of kicking 30+ goals in a season. We can agree to disagree, I think he’s better forward. It’s too easy in defence to get him one-on-one and expose his lack of body strength and positioning.
