I agree with the sentiment not to wildly overrate our fringe players, but nor should we overrate middling picks. The chances of getting anything useful at pick 32 isn't all that good.

I mean if we got a #32 for Kemp.... who are we gonna pick? Most likely a fringe AFL quality player, who is 18yo and not ready to even possibly contribute for 2-3 years. So why do it, when Kemp would appear to have upside, can already contribute at AFL level, in multiple positions. We're a win-now team, too, so kicking the can down the road a few more years hurts us, not helps.

You just need the points to match the bid. Nothing to do with the next pick. Every pick has a point value. Most likely you will lose the next pick, but if you have enough from lower picks to cover it you will be fine.
Next time you go on a site pretending to be a supporter of a club, use "we" instead of "you" it will get you a lot further and not found out. 👍

Here are all the trades we are currently working on with other teams. I guarantee none will be announced before 2pm ;)

Adelaide
  • Darcy - It would be good to have a Fogarty on our list that actually kicks goals
  • Jones - It would be good to have a defender on our list that can actually Chayce
Brisbane
  • Hugh McCluggage- We need more outside run so badly I would fly up to Brisbane, pack his bags and drive him to the airport. Plus... I'd really like to answer 'How much luggage could McCluggage lug if MucCluggage could lug luggage?'
  • Bailey - he could rotate with Williams up forward. They could train for interchanging with 'Zac's on, zac's off'
Collingwood
  • Isaac Quaynor - our team needs more IQ
*
  • Shiel - Forget the private jet this time. A couple of cab vouchers would probably do the trick
Freo
  • Alex Pearce - once we add NGA kids next year, we could have the interchange 'Pearce off, Ison is on'...
Geelong
  • SDK - can never have enough Blues Brothers
Gold Coast
  • Alex Sexton - Moved to defence this year. The perfect fit once Silvagni moves to CHB ;)
GWS
  • Coniglio - Just as a test case to see if SOS tries to recruit him next year
Hawthorn
  • Dylan Moore - please sir, can we have some?
  • Grainger-Barras - together with Tom Barrass = Barassi @ Carlton
Melbourne
  • McVee - Once we have Barassi, we need to bring back Judd
  • Oliver - we desperately need more inside mids at Carlton
North Melbourne
  • Comben - he only kicked 3 goals all year. All three were against Carlton in round 19. You know it makes sense
  • LDU - We tried to right the Dow wrong with Cerra. This would complete the redemption
  • Fisher - see Coniglio
Port
  • Butters - We ask for him but Port send us a different player. Austin exclaims 'I can't believe it's not Butters!'
  • Rozee - Walsh vs Rozee? Porque no los dos?
  • Narkle - I'll be waiting for him to make a mistake so I can scream out '**** Narkle!'

Richmond
  • Picks only - the cupboard is more bare than Old Mother Hubbard's
  • Coulthard, Mansell & Clark - Not for recruitment, but I want to see these three race each other
St Kilda
  • Henry, Higgins - they can teach our players that 'do little'
Sydney
  • Papley - only if we can get Ryan O'Keefe to come out of retirement
WCE
  • Barrass - see Hawthorn
  • Cripps, McGovern - Pokemon, collect them all!
Bulldogs
  • Daniel - A player I look up to (literally)
  • Bont - Just for KohPhi
  • Liberatore - A Libba at Carlton. What could go wrong?
Ah Ferris, never change

Far out, we aren't arguing pick 32 isn't enough for Kemp (although some will agree with that anyway), we're saying a pick like that is absolutely useless in THIS. YEAR'S. DRAFT. Since it has the potential to be swallowed up by a bid.

Let me make this clearer for you. Do you think it would be fair to let a contracted player walk for absolutely free? Get nothing in return? Because that it a real possibility if Kemp were to be traded for 32.

That’s also narrow-minded.

It should be ‘what can the Kennedy and Kemp compo get us together?’

If we can trade 32 + 48 (as an example) for 20- 25 (multi-club trade), then that’s a good deal imv.

The question isn’t about the return for Kemp, it’s about the return for Kemp and Kennedy combined.

I’m guessing we’ve asked the q of NM whether a F2 and Kennedy comp (45-48 imv) is enough for 25 and they’ve said no, so we’ve said no to Saints.

lol Supported the club since the 80's

I can be objective and not overrate our players like some people do.

Watch how many fans bag players during the season and as soon as the trade season comes around they want first rounders in any deal ;)

I’m not in love with Kemp, he makes massive errors and as good as he can be at times he is equally poor.

I also don’t see a bid for B campo coming before 35-40 so 32 is a pick we’d most likely get to use.

However Kemp is contracted, and more than happy to stay, so I’d be a little disappointed with 32. Wouldn’t be a howler but it feels a touch less than we could get

Kennedy and Kemp for 25 would be a really poor outcome IMO. Can't lose that much depth for an early second, especially when we don't have much depth to replace Kemp in the first place.

I'm a bit confused why people are going on about what Kemp is worth - it's irrelevant. He's contracted, hasn't requested a trade AND is at the very minimum very valuable depth. It needs to be significant overs to even consider it as we enter season where we need to be a contender

That's not how it works, every pick has a points value but you MUST use your next pick and then subsequent pick if there are nay remaining. That's exactly why clubs like Essendon this year and countless others in the past trade out of their top end picks (Essendon with 9 regarding Kako this year) to avoid having that pick eaten away.

What is stopping SOS from bidding on Ben Campo at the proposed traded '32' knowing we're committed to the family? A complete ##### act but I wouldn't put it past him.....
He will, because he’s a spiteful tossbag.

Don't trade Kemp for anything less than a first rounder.

We paid a first for him. We have got games into him. He has shown his athleticism and potential. He is contracted.

If JSOS goes back, then Kemp is a 3rd forward, especially with Martin gone.

It has to be an offer to good to refuse.

I’m of this thought too. Potentially trading him out while he has some value, and contracted. No guarantee he’s best 22 next year, and if he doesn’t play many games, he would be worth a late third at best this time next year. Would be a decent risk, but I’m not opposed to it

Kemp and Kennedy can fill a role now, while we are in a window. Pick 25 probably can't. I'm all for the regeneration, but not losing players for very little.
