Can we swoop in and nab C.McCrae…?
Positive: Interview at least. Was assistant to Clarkson, has 3 premierships as a player under mastercoach Matthews, and would know what is required at coaching level to snatch a flag.
Negative: Taking another coach on with "training wheels."

100% this. Lyon wants the job. He has the passion to coach again. He has made three GFs, with two different teams. He has a defensive mindset. He can attract experienced assistants. Is there 'baggage' that comes with him? Yes, but does he deserve to be frozen out of the game for a single incident? That depends on an one's philosophical stance on forgiveness.
A single incident in which he's always maintained innocence and no guilt has ever actually been proven. Is forgiveness even required in that instance?

Ross Lyon: best candidate imo but has questions about fit due to ego and alleged incident that goes against Carlton Respects.

Brad Scott: Took north to prelim and been in AFL role for last few years.

Nathan Buckley: coached Collingwood for 10 years. Think he’s a good coach however history of racism and bullying at Collingwood which he contributed to. Big ego.

Don Pyke: great record at Adelaide but concerns about preseason camp. Also impact his signing would have on indigenous boys.

David Teague: current coach who’s shown weakness in defensive structure that hasn’t been fixed for 2.5 years, poor game plan, no plan B, plays favourites. Also introvert.

Michael Voss: past coach, been senior assistant for a while. Worth a 2nd shot?

Untried:

Jaymie Graham: my preferred untried. Credit for being excellent at tactics/game plan. Think he’s another Longmuir.

Kingsley: long time assistant, was close to pies job.

I would support the club backing Teague now. Clear the rest of the deck. An open an honest discussion to take place with the key stakeholders, the board come to a unified position to move forward. Then Teague with the board. Then Teague and Sayers with the playing group about the vision and moving forward as a united team and finally Teague with the players.

Let the raw feelings out in a manner that is understood that it must be solved to move forward. Players respectfully voice their concerns to him and vice versa. But let it be known that this is a once off moment.

Reckon this will keep all in check, from the board, to the coach and knowing he has the backing of the board if he is willing to find his faults and make changes. And the playing group understanding that the board is supporting the coach with a clear vision and they will also need to grow up and take responsibility to be part of the solution.

Any gun assistant probably has 1 eye on Teague's job all year.
You'd imagine he'd know it too and that would lead to tension within the coaching ranks.
I don't disagree, but that sounds like a recipe for filling our inbox with high quality assistant coach expressions of interest, not that no assistant coach in their right mind would come here

That's opening up a new can of worms, but at the very least, 'cancel culture' serves to benefit no-one. Everyone in the history of the world has said, done and thought unacceptable things.

Well, the whole thing is a gigantic mess, no matter how one looks at it. How much we can salvage is the question.
Looks ok to me at moment. Certainly was not super keen on Clarkson myself as I been far more interested in just a massive shake up overall of people in positions at our club that not up to what we need which was more than just the coaching group. Did concern me if a big name coach gets gig and everybody thinks that was all what is needed. Also, if this leads to an incompetent board going in off season that would be ok with me too. The worst result would be same board, same ceo and same coach but I do not see that happening so I simply await to see what happens and hope to see this club get better from all this.

Always loves a chance to try and turn the screws on poster you don't like. You need a new hobby :p

Nah, she's spot on. It's a thread for rumours. Deal with it.

And posters lashing out at ITKs - who generally have a good strike rate - need to have a good hard look at themselves. No further explanation required.

From a club PR point of view, we have no choice but to stick with Teague for at least one more year in my opinion.

Apparently Ross Lyon is not an option anymore due to that sexual harassment case at Freo (according to a couple of journos)

It's not an ideal situation, but we can salvage something from this shipwreck by surrounding Teague with decent, qualified assistants/support staff.

Replacing Teague now would not be worth the widespread media and public backlash, it would only serve as a sign of a dysfunctional footy club imo.
There are probably enough signs already we are dysfunctional

True, but he didn't do himself any favours with appearances on Media St last week.

Would be happy for him to coach us at any rate, but think the club will stick with Teague.
Gee that would make a huge amount of sense after calling a mid-season review, the club would be looked upon as the basket case most external people believe we are.

I agree posters who lash out at ITKs with good info usually should have a good hard look at themselves. Luckily I didn't do that or I'd be very sorry right now.

Agree with that part.

The fervour of this thread yesterday was wild, nothing like a footy rumour thread when a few ITKs set off an episode of mass euphoria.

It's disorienting, it felt like the only place to be - we're writing the first draft of footy history here!!!

But not only was this one deflated in 2 minutes, it was never reflected in media or even on Twitter.

We were all ITK for a few hours, not like those losers who get their news from Tom Browne.
