Still think Clarko will eventuate, but we are running a process. Those of you who want swift action (media included) need to chill out. This is a thorough process that needs to be followed. People are losing their jobs and their lives are being severely affected. It's being treated seriously.

Media's is just pissed that they lost their news for the week. Sayers' will make sure this runs its course the RIGHT way and not the quick way - CERTAINLY not to appease journos.

Just out of interest. Clarko is a pro, has a fantastic reputation as a coach and I imagine would be pretty proud of that. Why on earth would his manager come out and emphatically say he is taking a year off? He has nothing at all to gain from it, in fact he would look like an absolute baffoon. He has no reason whatsoever to lie. If he was nutting out a contract with Carlton he doesn’t need to put a smoke screen up. He is no longer a coach at Hawthorn.

Why is it that journos seems to think Cerras ‘landing spot’ is us?Why couldn’t hawthorn or Richmond do the deal with similar picks?

I suspect the Hawks might..
Makes sense to move on 29 year old Mitchell for a 21 year old Cerra for probably similar coin.
Have history moving on Club Champions.. The 'family' Club are brutal when needed.

Such a bizarre situation the club is putting itself into. Why do we always handle this stuff badly?

Get it’s frustrating Gandaal but don’t think the club, on this occasion, is doing badly.

Our season finished only five days ago yet the media’s upset that we haven’t sacked Teague, some other assistants, and appointed a new coach.

We’re going through a process which always takes time. It’s workplace change.

Sayers has done these types of changes before, check his history at PWC. He knows what he’s doing. The only difference is that it’s workplace change at a footy level and not a corporate level.

For once the club is doing what a lot of supporters are struggling to do - ignoring the media frenzy.

maybe coz Teague still has a job?

Is it just me? Or is it when Carlton become interested in a player that player all of a sudden becomes an all time great and are worth significant picks/ compensation etc?

Why do players we always want seem to be twice the price than the one's that want to leave Carlton and we get no compensation (ala J Waite)?

If Cerra is worth 2 first round draft picks Sam Walsh must be worth 6 boy oh boy do people get worked up when we want someone.
For all out flaws we don’t tend to lose players we desperately want though so it’s a bit hard to gauge.

If Clarko isnt coaching next year, then just keep Teague for 1 more year, no finals next year, then get rid of him and go after Clarko again.

Won't work.
What Assistant Coach worth their salt will sign on knowing that Clarko will probably bring his own team. And he will.
We either cut Teague now, or extend his contract, surround him with the BEST AC's out there and back him in.

To be honest I wouldnt be surprised if Caro went with the Clarko and his manager are trying to quiet the media hype view on footy classified tonight and that his still a chance
Hmmm maybe.
I found interesting yesterday the Hawks went to the Afl about Clarkos pay out for next year, wanted it clear cut they werent gonna get rorted should Clarko coach else where. The Hawks might have got a sniff that it was possible Clarko may want to go on coaching next year.
The whole CFC situation os intriguing.

I actually would like to keep Teague but it’s getting untenable with Lyon and Clarko potentially interviewing. It’ll look like we’re settling.

Teague will have a score to settle as this could all be external noise and inside the club could be all following a script along with the review of the footy department.

look at history: Goodwin was gone but backed in. Hardwick was gone backed in. Buckley was gone in 2018 but backed in.

This trial by the media of our commissioned external review, firstly leaked by the media, incessantly commented on by the media is very annoying to me!!

the board is in a shambles! Really? What have they said or done since the review was given to them late last week?

the club should support Teague! Who is to say they are not being fair and as transparent as they can towards him, being he as a lot of others are a part of this review!

none of us currently know anything, click bait media is building this up as a dumpster fire.

less than a month ago Clarko was coaching the Hawks next year! Is he a great coach? Sure! Is he the second coming of Christ! Please!!

if this is truly a clearing of the decks then it will take time. No one individual in any organisation is any good without the support structures set up and utilised by that individual.

there is so many moving parts to this that none of us can know what is going on and what will eventuate.

was Teague not properly supported during this season without quality assistants and a head of football… probably but… he would of had in his power when taking on the role to pick new assistants as he saw fit. Now if I might buy into the tumour mill lol, one of the initial leaks was he wasn’t listening to the advice of the people around him. E.g Barker - we have defensive issues with your game plan and Russellthis player is not ready to play, he needs more time.

if that’s even remotely true who is responsible for our chronic injury list? Who is responsible for our lack of defensive strategy??

smart leaders identify smarter people than themselves in areas that they may have the foresight to see that their advice will improve their own performance. Leaders who don’t listen and plough ahead thinking they know best generally fail and generally leave a lot of people who work for them, under them, checking out! Why bother? This guy doesn’t get it! This guy can’t change!

now either what I’ve just said is complete bs and the board and review are looking at providing the assistants and support Teague needs to succeed or the issues I’ve highlighted are accurate and he’s lost the players and the club and he’s got to go.

But the club is literally finishing the players exit interviews today! So what to do? Sack Teague tonight? Appoint Ross the boss or whoever tomorrow? I doubt it’s that simple.

of course we’d ask the question to Clarko et al but that’s just part of the process. If Sayers is half as smart as he appears to be then he at least will follow the process. The outcome of that process is yet to be determined.

FWIW I think Sayers has played this beautifully (and very thoroughly to get the best possible outcome)

1. Set up publically announced transition to President.
2. Quietly go around having informal chats with many people around the club to get a feel for what is happening (and what is not happening!!)
3. Get 3 independent people to come and do their own review.
4. Cross reference his own findings with that of the review.
5. Give feedback of reviews to current employees- which inevitably flushes out more feedback when everyone realises serious shit is about to go down.

Then weigh everything up, make the decisions and load the gun.....

More money
Remove all talk that he is negotiating a job whilst Teague is still the coach.

If we eventually sakc Teague, he can come out and say he has reassessed his view and now wants to coach. Posturing.

Hey, I don't create history.
Google 'AFL pick 6' and the first option that comes up is AFL pick 6 curse.
Have a look at the history of pick 6: https://www.draftguru.com.au/picks
The least average games of the whole top 20. We currently have two on the list, plus Yarran from the past and one in the hand for this year's draft. Samo has bucked the trend by getting to 93 games, but looks on the outer. Marchy can't get on the park, playing 48 games in 7 years.
I just don't see the point in drafting a kid with a 'cursed' pick and hoping they turn out to be a Cerra type for the next 10 years (while completely bucking the trend of previous pick 6s), when we could literally have Cerra for the next 10 years.
