Yep. He's a straight-line player. The backline suits him well. Not sure if he has the agility to play midfield. Let him break lines with his speed, steamroll opposition and get across to help out teammates.

If our supporters had their way, we'd play 16 midfielders...

Exactly, everyone must be in the midfield at all times according to some supporters, and if not they were being ruined by Teague.

I’ve got bad news for these people, Lyon, Scott, Bucks or whoever aren’t going to be able to play everyone in their preferred perfect position.

If we end up with Lyon, I’m tipping Saad to have an AA worthy year in 2022.

He’s one player that I’d be concerned about in how they react to a Lyon type game plan and the fierce feedback he’d get if not following said game plan.

Stocker should be in that back pocket.

He's very good at the position so don't screw with something that actually works well for us.
How could I forget him! Obviously he makes the back 6 until he possibly moves mid. Still need that 3rd tall which is Kemp/ March or Riccardi which probably pushes Saad or Williams up the ground...

Stocker is a mid. I want to see Walsh and Stocker owning our midfield for the next 10 years. If we can get Dow up and about in there too we are looking good.

Stocker is a back pocket in the AFL for now.

He's proven there.

He should not be moved from there for at least a few seasons yet.

See Rory Laird or Callum Mills for the model on how to do it right.

Re: McLovin

Or, if you still see potential in him and given his trade value is 0, play him in the 2s for an extended period until his fitness and form demand he be selected.

I find it staggering how undisciplined we are about selection. Let him earn it and show he's capable. Or not.

But I wouldn't be making any structural plans around him. He's cannot be part of our plan A, now, he's back to being a maybe-upside-prospect-project.

Id go further, if he comes back to pre-season training out of shape id sack him (assuming you can do that). These guys are either serious about footy or not, if not then get out and dont be a bad example to the wider group.

Brad Scott seems to be a similar option to Ross.
Got a lot out of some bog ordinary players, although he made prelims instead of GFs.

I just can't see Scott knocking back continual progression through the AFL ranks to go back to being a senior coach.
They will have him as a candidate for a SHocking type role surely.

No from me to Buckley. He seems to be an alright coach but his lack of experience outside of Collingwood is a concern.
For the ones suggesting him as a Senior Assistant, I don't think he's going to knock back big $$$ in the media to be an assistant coach again.
Will be the top job or nothing.
Why, why would Scott turn down his AFL opportunity to work at Carlton?

On the balance of evidence we will sack him in 3, max 4 years and his stocks will depreciate significantly

The reality is our game is won in the midfield, good aerobic capacity, ball retention, accurate distribution to team advantage by hand and foot is what it’s all about.
The best teams have magnificent midfielders.
Notice tigers unravel when the Cotchin & Martin infrastructure is missing?
It will be blatantly noticeable in the finals.

Who would actually take McGovern off our hands?
We might get a 3rd rounder and would have to pay half his salary.
Think we can do a little better than 3rd ,

mid to late 2nd rounder is feasible.

Just came out of a meeting.

Have we:
* nabbed Clarko
* sacked Lloyd and Liddle
* traded Cottrell and next year's 4th rounder for Bailey Dale , Tom Papley and Clayton Oliver, plus picks 1 and 2
yet?

Not if he’s a good operator and can achieve a respectable result.
Coaches are not untouchable nor protected? if they’re tumbling along with no clear direction after 45 / 50 games & poor results, it’s the boards due diligence to ask questions and replace if necessary.
Poor performance is untenable in any sport.

We hired Lyon on the spot, then conducted the interview and decided to sack Lyon.

Now the Scott supporters know what he presented to their board... based purely on his comments...

yeah solid evidence... and some around here sure do love solid evidence don't they?

nah let's just take it as gospel this time because it suits our agenda...

Why is it that you think most on here wanted Teague sacked?

Id be very happy with a 3rd rounder and more than willing to pay part of his salary.

Id say North, Fremantle and GC would be a good fit, I’d even take a 4th rounder for him, if it’s North.

Yes and i can't believe you missed it

I reckon his papers were stamped well before the report.

Maybe, but the report simply proved that they were right to be stamped then.
