Unlike a lot of people on here I think Cripps is a big part of the problem.
Sam Mitchell was the same at Hawthorn being appointed the captain he thought he was the club and everyone has to be a part of him.
Stripping him of the captaincy bought him back to Earth with a thud.
I think that's what we need to do here with Cripps or get rid of him.

Or maybe Cripps has been trying to change the cultural problems at the club and has been undermined the last 2 years?

Sheesh - the talent manager makes a comment that he should not be publicly making and people here turn on our loyal captain who still; mind you - averages 23.5 disposals a game, right around the likes of Bailey Smith, Scott Pendlebury, Adam Treloar, Joel Selwood, Tom Liberatore, Patrick Dangerfield, Dusty Martin..

If our captains worst season is as good as the seasons of the names I've listed above, then I think he's fine. It perplexes me that people could suggest we strip him of the captaincy off the back of comments made by Teague's manager.

We don't know what support he is eluding too and whether it was given

You don't cry to the media that you want more support without making it clear what you mean by that.

Teague has to go

More likely some board members are concerned about Lyon’s potential appointment conflicting with the Carlton Respects message, to the point their position on the board would be untenable.
The Carlton Respects program is a good initiative but it's something that should be in the background to the core business. Both the mens and women's program took a step backwards this year. That's the most important thing to address.

RE Pickering's comments - obviously not a great time. However, would the Herald Sun not have control on when that is put out? Albeit some stats may be changed last minute for a game to pick apart but could Pickering could have submitted this weeks ago and HS ran with it at the most effective time?

Pickering has utterly destroyed any PR wins that Teague has racked up in past weeks. Absolutely untenable that Teague stays now and the club has this ammunition to refer to in making that decision.

Absolute clown of an agent. Luckily his other client Weiters is already signed up long term.

Very few would disagree that Cripps has had a shocking 2 seasons.

But this is not coming from honest critique; this is coming from the scorched earth policy Teague and Pickering are taking.

I think it's probably better or more accurate to say that his 2020 & 2021 don't compare well to his 2019.

Get back to winning the ball and dishing it out. Add contested marking as an outlet kick and a forward target rotation, (say close to a goal a game on average); and short spells as a relief ruck. Do that and he's a top 20 player in the comp again.

Cripps main weapon is getting in and handballing out to someone free. The last 2 years he has changed and trying to bull his way through packs and take it upon himself to move the ball forward. Teague says Cripps hurt the team by just handballing instead of kicking, seems to me we now know why Cripps changed the last 2 years for the worst, the coach changed Cripps game style for the worst. Another reason he has to go, does not coach to players strengths

dont know if that's Teague, but yes not playing to his obvious strength.

Cripps does need to add to his skillset, but for mine, the additional revolves around his height and versatility.

I agree that on field performance is the most critical issue to address.

However, a high performing organisation doesn’t sacrifice its values to achieve its vision - in fact it does the opposite.

Cripps doesn't need to be a 100% 2 way player, plenty of players have been 1 way and won flags. Martin has won 3 Norms as an immensely 1 way player. Judd was a 1 way player, Ablett jr was 1 way. I mean it's a nice ideal and soundpiece to say everyone needs to go both ways but it's not entirely true.

Whether Pickering was right or wrong is entirely irrelevant, he said what he said because it's what Teague thinks. That was a bush league move by Pickering to out DTs private thoughts like that.

if you have 1 or even 2 players who are 'one way' you need to build a strategy around it.

Defensive slide in the zone where say newnes runs in the opposite direction when saad charges forward with the ball or a player ready to sag defensive side if cripps goes ahead of the contest. the players can still be pressure outlets but it also mean we don't get cut up on turnover, again and again. Its pretty basic tactically but requires buy-in and effort.

Richmond have done it brilliantly in the last few years with players of no particular talent being 2-3 time premiership players because they're willing to run and run and sacrifice personal glory for the team.

Teague's PR is as limited as his grand strategy IMO

If it true that the board is indecisive, we have a real problem. I rate Sayers, but if he has not already galvanised the group and they are a dear in headlights we are screwed regardless of the sacking / appointments. I really hope this is not the case.

Lyon would have been the perfect candidate. If we have board members all PR woak on him this club is going nowhere. You will find it very difficult to get coach , staff, etc that have not made mistakes in the past. The great coaches/ sportspeople by nature carry some baggage.

at what point were they teague's thoughts?

The quotes were taken from the Oval Office with Sam Edmund(SEN), which looks like it came out yesterday

2 different statements here

You don't state the specifics in an open forum outside the club, internally, none of us know if he did or didn't request support, what that support was or whether it was given

Whether Teague stays or goes( I believe he is gone), has nothing to do with the above

You can address both, while still aligning with your values

Not exactly great reading right now for the club. Reading and hearing.

Coach seemingly taking pot shots at his captain.

Coach's manager taking it a step further and then some.

Assistant coaches having to knock on the door to find out they're being fired.

I hope the club can make some good decisions soon because it can't be the happiest of workplaces right at the minute.

Apparently Luke Sayers was tweeting about COVID passports while at the club yesterday……seems pretty chill

I don’t mind the debrief with the footy department post season.

They called a review, they owe it to the footy department to give them the findings

I’ve never been sacked from a job but if I was I’d like to know why.

Considering it’s a small industry you would want to know how to improve in order to get another gig
