Whately and Riewoldt looking all smug and trying to get Sellers to unload on carlton coaching selection by being very impressed with how how Collingwood have handled theirs.
N.R. " how does that compare with what you want to see happen at the blues"
M.M. "we don't have to do what everyone else wants. We can do what we like. It doesn't worry me what they do as long as they get the right bloke ".
Did look like they were trying to provoke him into criticising the club. A couple of scumbags those two.

Thats what is annoying me,

Collingwood are doing a full rebuild, interviewing all the potential first time coaches.

We want an experienced coach, our search is very narrow with only a handful of candidates.

We don't need Liddle or Lloyd to be part of any decision, nor actually be there to participate in any of the current climate

They are mere puppets in the PR mechanism

Fair call.

Seems like a large panel. I would have thought Parkin, Diesel and one of Liddle and Lloyd (if they had to be involved) would have been enough.

Sellers can come across as a meathead at times but he is bang on here. I'm sick of the pile on (hate that term BTW) with anything to do with Carlton, as long as we get there right bloke who cares how its done. You know the saying about opinions and a-holes right?

Right I think 3 @ $650 is fair.

If he can't reach an agreement with the Swans (which he probably will) he would likely to go to a team that think that they are one midfielder away from a premiership. Say the Demons if they just missed out this year. (or maybe the Lions). In previous years it would be Geelong but I don't see them being very attractive from here on in. For mine we are better off investing that salary into Cerra.

There is an interesting dilemma here. If Cook was to take over from Liddle as CEO, I am sure this could be attractive to someone like Clarko or other experienced coaches. However with Liddle on the selection panel we can't announce Cook as CEO until Liddle finishes the job of helping select the coach.
Why is it assumed that Cook would only come on as CEO?

He is 65 and was/is intending on retiring. I can't see him coming on board as CEO but possibly in another senior role or even advisor without the mantle of CEO.

My only cocnern with Liddle and Lloyd being involved is they helped f*ck up the last selection.

What are you worried about? I know they're involvement has you bothered, but specifically what is it about their involvement that has you worried?

It's not like they're going to be influencing Parko and Diesel.

Personally, I see Lyon as a gamechanger. Our talent is on a uphill slide, our coaching and football department on the opposite. We need to steady the ship and set a foundation. If we don't see success with Lyon, I can't see us going backwards. Hopefully a solid foundation on standards and expectations.

You don't often see something slide uphill.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Reminded me of a conference presenter in the days of the "cascade" corporatise who told us all that the "information would cascade up".

Well, I have fallen up stairs more often than I care to admit (and possibly more often than I actually remember...)
