I'd suggest they probably would if he was the one "reading the riot act" to them.

BTW I'm really surprised that people applaud this if it happened. You don't heal wounds by acting in a threatening manner in my experience. The hard talk can come anytime, it's just not the way you start the game nowadays.

From what I’ve read the new Pres has been circling around and communicating with the players since the middle of the season.

It’s definitely not the first time they’ve heard from him.

So if we’d taken Hind at pick 457 and traded pick 7 for a future R1 pick - we’d have Cerra and Hind instead of Saad.

I’d take former every day of the week.

I wouldn’t buy in to the media pile on - it is biased and highly agenda driven.
Here are some facts as we know them:
- the media hammer and question Teague for the majority of the season for having no definitive game plan
- Sayers calls for a long overdue review of a seriously underperforming football department
- Sayers says we will not provide a running commentary on the review. We don’t provide a running commentary on the review
- Report is handed to the board for consideration with 1-2 weeks left in the season
- Teague says I don’t want to discuss the findings until post round 23. The board comply with his wishes
- Management are given the findings of the report and a right to respond by way of due process from Monday
- Conversations are had at all levels of the club based on the review early in the week
- Media start crying foul that the coach they campaigned to have removed and mocked for lack of sensible game plan is being treated unfairly and the whole situation is a shambles. No mention of Teague asking to only see the report post Rd 23 and the right of reply given to management and Teague
- Board finalises decision to remove Teague on Wednesday night and notifies him first thing on Thursday

Sayers outlined a process and stuck to it. An underperforming coach and some assistants were removed. Nothing about this is particularly sensational but the media continue to nit pick and find issues.

Just calling it like it is, why do you feel the need to set the terms around how everyone else posts?
struggling with other people's opinions? I get that all the time.........

Selection integrity complaints will increase with Ross...

Let's see... no more Murphy, no more Betts, no more Casboult.

Ross was openly highly critical of Newnes in the side.

Where will these selection integrity issues come from?

He will drop players if they're not giving what's expected. Regardless of who they are. Can't see anyone having issues with that.

And picked up an AA defender for a future 2nd round pick (likely around pick 40).
is there anything else you want to add other than criticise every trade we've ever made?

The Saad vs Hind shit is very annoying.

At the time of the trade we were after proven experience in the back half who could be in the leadership group, we got it.

Essendon wanted to draft a player to replace the one they just lost and he seems to have turned out well so far but at the time of the draft was still an unknown to an extent.

Seems like another one of those win/win trades to me.

Also there's no guarantee we'd have drafted Hind and had the same net result with him.

I don’t know, the team first ethos is a good thing to have.

I do feel his game plan is very taxing on the playing group. I mean he has a reasonable track record for getting players to turn careers around (Walters a big example) but I think there will be a fair bit of pain initially with him. How has time out of the game affected him? Not sure. Will there need to be a turnover of the playing list to fit his style? Can he adapt his style to the list?

I honestly can’t tell if it’s a good fit or a bad fit. I think there would need to be a big process to address the questions I guess.

As a bloke though he seems like a knob though

In terms of taxing the group it couldn't be any worse than teagues game plan.

bang! "supporters" have little idea of how to back the club in regardless these days - might be the entitled attitude of recent generations - I want, I want.....

Perhaps your answer is in that $ figure.

Who would you expect us to attract with that kind of offer?

Regardless if it was Clarko/Ross/some random dude off the street I would expect that they would want and ask for a good set of assistants. If they didn’t that would raise more red flags in my opinion

For the sake of facts, Teague was sacked Wednesday night. Sayers confirmed in his presser.

They didn't draft him. They traded for him with St Kilda using a token pick.

I not fussed about Saad or Hind as players as far as clubs getting new players. They both decent players. My head scratcher is why Saints let Nick Hind go in first place. He looked damn good for them and let him go. What person on list management group there dumb enough to make that call? Is Hughes or Rogers at the Saints?

Surely the comments made by Riley Beveridge regarding O'Brien, Dow and SPS can't be true. How can list management decisions be made without a coach. If SPS wants to leave I understand the trade. But with Dow for instance why would we trade him. He has shown great improvement in 2021 when he was given a full time midfield role. Yes he has deficiencies but he is what 21 years old. We will get no where near what we gave up for him (same as O'Brien). They also wouldn't be on any massive $$$ so I don't understand the logic in trading them.
I think it's clear from the review, that if you cant coach defence, or don't want to defend as a player, you are out the door, or playing 2's

I don't give a toss if he's been sending them little gifts every week, it's very, very 60's to make your first official address to the troops a massive whack, as it appears he has.

Everyone here may be celebrating his arrival but he's put an eight ball between he and I so far.

And while I'm on it - it seems that he is going to be totally hands on in the coach selection process if not the sole decider.

Didn't we have multiple pages on here criticising MLG for his (somewhat limited) involvement in previous appointments?

I'll be waiting to see if we actually prove to have a "we" in our team going forward.

Not sure what your point is Thy?
you wanted to know why a coach needs so much support - every coach needs support surely? will you hire someone with the idea to let him work alone? it's no slight on dt that he needed more support.......
